Hows it going John. I`m installing a Fast Systems EFI for alcohol over the winter.Nothing else will change.

The Hunts are using a DX block and are somewhere around 1700HP. The digger went 6.56@210MPH.

BTW, I think the best 60 ft for the Hunts is a 990. BITCH`IN!

Ok I have to laugh at that one... Good one
To each his own when it comes to this. Yes it is very cool if you stick to all Buick need be it original parts or aftermarket. But some have to draw the line some where. It costs a lot to get these Buicks to go this fast and hold up to it. Rod himself has said after splitting two blocks that he would get out of Buicks if he couldn't find a fix. For now he seems to have one. The block would be great, but it doesn't seem like it is going to happen any time soon. Updates would be great,, and not ones to just shut everyone up for the time being.

Rick,, I will be happy to keep you and anyone else updated about the 4-bolt mains. Sofar so good. The signs we would get in the past when the block split were no where to be seen this year. The block has had more power put to it this year than in the past years. There is more in the motor but the trans was holding us back this year. The fix to that is sitting in the garage right now  I'll keep you posted when Rod finishes ripping it apart this weekend.

What is the Fix taking out the Powerglide and install Liberty or a Lenco

How much HP is that block taking at this point?

Actually Rod was running a Turbo 400 worked to the max. Until this year it was holding up fine. With the change in cars from the Hawk to the Regal the trans wouldn't hold up. With in three runs it would be toast. The fix is a 4 speed Lenco . Rod is going to fix the turbo 400 one last time and put it back in the Hawk, the motor that is going into that won't be any where near what the Regal has. So the trans will actually be over kill for it.

At this point,,, about 1500 hp with about 16 lbs of boost. Best run we got was a 7.59 @ 181 mph 1.09 60ft. This was with a fresh trans, it started going after that. The motor has way more in it, we just have to get everything else to hold up to it. With the Lenco going in it the trans problem will be eliminated. Rod was hoping this winter to get the motor on a dyno to see what kind of power it is pushing out, we'll see if it happens.

So in the meantime I have to decide which block out of the ones I have here get the "fat-girl" treatment.............. ..........Put a girdle on it and use it till something better comes along.

Less CID than I had before but we'll go "Diesel" on compression with a bigger cam and more RPM capability and put a diaper on it just in case.....

My car will be 100lbs lighter and work better,So lets see if I can go faster with a smaller engine.

    What do you guys think?

    going faster

Gary i dont think going any smaller will hurt you at all i think my old motor in your car would have run in the 9.6??? at the new weight, that was 469 ci and stage 1 (iron heads) oops that ET was on our short down hill tracks LOL  at BG I RAN 9.60 @ 138 CEICEL 9.57 @139 E-TOWN 9.59 @138 AND AT EPPING NH. 9.58 @ 139.80. I just hope to see you out there this year cuz its just not right when you, me ,and doug h are just standing there when the super 16 cars come rolling out it makes me sick cuz were not there just to watch were there to RACE. if you need anything let me know i got alot of junk blown up parts laying around. later JOHN.

Thanks for the offer John.......I definately don't want to miss a second year waiting on stuff,I've got way too good of a car to just be siting in the garage.

Hopefully I can put some theories to work and possibly pick up a little with smaller motor.......Or go nuts trying :eek2:

Hey Gary, how much power you making w/ that 505 motor of yours?

You know, if you want to, you could go w/ a buick 350 and make over 1,000 horsepower(and many gobs of torque) w/out any worries.........

I'd say my 505 was about 750-775 based on what it ran vs. veh. weight since I never dyno'd it.
Can't do a 350 as my choice at this time is to stay Naturally Aspirated,So that rules out a blower or turbo motor.

    Go Small!

    Gary,

Go the "small stealth" route, carb and all. I know that 659 HP will put your car in the 9.50's!

Just looked on E-Bay and found BBB bull dog blocks for sale with a release date of March of 06. They want a $2000 deposit. Hopefully this is a good sign. Shawn

When you review the *buyers* feedback, the 3 NEGATIVES are from buyers. That is a VERY bad sign in my book.... somebody is VERY concerned, when you have to auction off *deposits*. I've never seen that in a clean business world.... ever. :Dou:

Geez am! How did the price go up $2000 from $3200 in the beginning to $5200 starting price? I know that all aluminum blocks are more than iron but $2000 more? Does this mean that the $3200 iron block isn't happening?
