I called Steele Rubber Products today and talked to guy by the name of Kenny, and asked him about the availability of the upper mounts. He told me that they don't currently make them, but if I could send an original one to their engineer (Eddy), they would see if they could reproduce them. I don't have an NOS one (1242761) to send them so I was wondering if any of you (Tim,Brian) would send one of yours to them to inspect for the possibility of getting these reproduced.
That sounds like a neat idea. See if you can get a "c/o" full name and the address they'd like it shipped to. Also, let them know to expect it soon via USPS or FedEx 2 day air. BTW, I just got their catalog today and the thing is huge!
Not sure if this was answered in another one of your threads, the isolators are still available from GM, part number 1380051. They were pink and the new GM ones are still pink. The tranny mount will have some orange marks on it. On my cars, looks almost like it was sprayed...(blue for M40, check out my website chassis section...even though car is original 350 machine, made it into 455 machine including correct markings (more or less)). There was someone out there who had just ONE mount...maybe I will buy that one and fire it off...does it get wrecked in the process?? Later Tim
I will call tomorrow and get "Eddy's" full name. Tim when I talked to "kenny" about inspecting the mount I assumed they would just look at it, take a few measurements, maybe check stiffness.
Hi Rob, Steele has the body cushion now. You might want to give them a ring. They called here and my wife spoke with them. What she told me makes me think they don't really understand what we are trying to accomplish. Perhaps you could ring them up and we can "git er done". One more thing, the fellow did say he just finished making a bushing much like the one I mailed him so we may already have a solution!
