Hello. I'm looking for an alternator for my 72. Must be rebuilt or really nice rebuildable core within that date range. If you've got one and are going to BG , that would save me shipping. I have a rebuilt 1105084 78amp that works fine , but I'm trying to get a date - correct one . Trade or cash deal . If you have one and are not going to BG , we'll talk shipping. Thanks in advance.:beers2:

Thanks for looking , Bruno. I figured with a little time to look , SOMEBODY will come up with one . The 2 I have are 1105084 78A , and 1100843 61 A . Hopefully , I can pass these along to a member looking for one. But .... not until I get the right one .

It's been nearly 3 months since I posted this. This alternator came on ANY 1972 with air . Series doesn't matter . If you've ever parted out an Electra , LeSabre , Skylark ANYTHING 1972 with air , please lokk and see if you took the alt off. I didn't think this was going to be this difficult , as I came up with the right carb and intake as well as the heads in a short period of time , and those parts were WAY more specific than this. Really appreciate it ...., Kevin.

    Kevin,

I can point you to a gentleman that rebuilds alternators, starters, etc. and does a fantastic job. It would probably take some time and it isn't cheap but you end up with a remanufactured alternator with the original correct date code and brand new internals. Let me know if you have any interest and I will post a picture of the one he did for my 67...........Arland

Thanks anyway , but there are a ton of them out there . It's not like a Stage 1 carb or anything . I'll keep looking . Thanks , though.:beers2:

    Kevin,
Actually the full size cars had an optional 61 or 63 amp alternator. Also the 55
amp alternators that were used in the full size cars were a # 1102442.
I just looked it up in my 72 Chassis Service Manual. It shows the only models with the #1102448 were 4D,4F,4G & 4H.
    Hope this helps.

If it is like it was in 70 a rear defroster option on a GS also required the 60 + amp alternator be used.

Thanks Tim and Jim. With all of the 72 Skylarks parted out over the years , they have got to be around. Thanks for the info.

    Wheelz,

The two attached photos show the location of all the stamped info. The first shot you can see part of the stamped data through the slot in the brace and the second shot is leaning over the radiator looking straight down on top of the alternator. The stamped info is upside down in the photo but reads:

    1100774 55A
    7F15 12VNEG

This is an A/C car so the alternator is a double pulley rated at 55 amps and dated June 15, 1967. 7=year F=June.

Kevin, hope you find one that works for your car,

    Arland

Arland and everyone else..THANQ! ...ya see, at one time I knew these things..but over the years this stuff got burried deep behind the foggy-unclear cobwebs of the unintelligent Beta side of my memory bank unit. :Smarty: :eek2: Kevin..I'll fumble thru my alts and let you know what I've got! :TU: Wheelz, Tampa Bay

    Kevin,
I don't have my info for 72 cars handy but are you sure that is the right number for your application. (Could someone please check this.)

It should not be this hard to find one for your car.
