Indented hexagon bolt, a little over an inch long with no washer. Someone has to have an extra one kicking around. Thanks in advance!
These are not what you are after, but close. If they didn't have the flange they would look real close. You could grind the flange off.
I did but it's unfortunately not the one I need. Definitely functional but not 100% correct. I'll get a check out this week for your time. As always, thanks again!
The one I send you its just over one inch, the head is about the same as the picture.I have thousands of bolts, maybe I'll look at Jason's beater, that one should have the original one.Bruno.
Inch and a quarter, I believe. Only a couple threads would show through the front of the alternator using a washer.
So its an indented head, integral flange, no serrations, an inch and a quarter long? What marking is on the head? Do you even realize exactly how many bolts I have in my basement? its a mining operation
Brett, I would love to see pics of an entire original bolt. I don't think I have ever seen one as you described it (indented hex head with no flange or washer). I went through several buckets of original hardware, and all the 5/16"-18 indented head bolts either have a flange, one floating washer, or two floating washers. I have several different markings of 5/16'-18 x 1" hex head bolts, but none with the indented head. The assembly manual shows the bolt as part # 9416740, with a separate washer like you said. That bolt is used on all 350/455's, and was even used on some Olds and Jeep applications. AMK does not have it listed, and I could not find any pics. BTW, the length is 1" according to the parts book. It is measured from the bottom of the head to the end of the threads. Hope that helps.
