I personally don’t buy into any steadfast pump fuel (93 octane) compression numbers weather it be dynamic or static. One source will stand by 8.5-9 dynamic with aluminum heads, and one will prefer to not exceed 8-8.3. I don’t feel that either are necessarily right or wrong, .... because of individual parameters of the cam timing events, combustion chamber design, piston top configuration, engines normal operating temperature, total quench area, the vehicles actual used load factor, to name a few.
Intake valve closing degree as well as the intake/exhaust overlap play into that mix. While it’s definitely beneficial to hear real world combinations that work well with 93 octane, I’m really trying to be open minded to others that successfully operate outside the dynamic/static compression box. I believe it may have been David Vizard that stated “staying at 200-lbs (or less) of cranking pressure is more important than any compression calculations”. This is an interesting subject that seems to come up throughout the automotive enthusiasts world often and has many views to consider.

Yep, everything has an affect on the motor. I’m just hoping to hear, with some evidence, that I can possibly go a little higher with DCR than 7.8, with aluminum heads. Even 8.3 would help. This small cam of mine, has a 106 Intake center and when I put the numbers in the spreadsheet, it bumps up the DCR. I’d prefer not to change the heads and cam all at the same time, just a bigger project than I’m ready for

I am thrilled to be in this right now. Looking to glean any and all information I can form those who go before me. I want a super street car with all of the right stuff on it while running AC and a serious O/D trans which can sit in parade traffic for three hours at a stretch. My hats off to you all! Looking to copy what’s best for my situation.

We need to be sure to use the same yardstick when measureing, i.e. the advertised cam numbers when calculating. Thoae 9'ish numbers sound like those you get when calculating with 0.050" cam numbers. Maybe not but just throwing that out there
