Animated Avatar?

Are we no longer able to use them? Tried but this message came up

"You may not upload animated images."

Just wanted to put old one back up. Any help appreciated.

I have an animated one also, will try reloading it for a test.

 

Well, I had no problem loading my animated avatar. Maybe the file size restrictions have been changed? Did you try to upload it here, or are you linking to its URL elsewhere?

Just tried again, same message. The avatar I want to put back up is one I had used for the last couple of years. Should not have been a problem size wise, went up before no problem. Unsure what to do.

Just like Korrie, I've used this avatar before without any trouble.....

 

Dunno guys, I think you're going to have to contact Mike Bucy or Jim Weise on this one.

did you lose your original avatars or were you trying to load new ones when you had this problem?

Gramlow's is probably working because mod's are permissioned for more options than general users.

 

I always wanted one myself, but I wouldn't know how to do one anyway even if they allowed them again

Not usually for something like this though. JW and MB wouldn't have intentionally excluded all members except mods from being able to use these. I don't think any mods even have one. Well, I do, but I don't use it...

Was simply trying a non animated avatar and decided to go back to original animated one. Still getting error message below.

i suspect that on the last board upgrade the avatar default for animated gif's got turned off. existing avatar's have been grand-fathered in.

so, until we can get feedback from the Buce-ster, anyone currently using an animated gif should NOT be trying to change their avatar, else you'll lose it.

 

I hadn't used mine for several months, until just slapping it back on for this thread. So I don't think mine working now has anything to do with grandfathering. Though that could be the case for others that already had theirs in use during the upgrade. Dunno, I don't have any answers... o No:

If this message comes up, you need the help of someone who has access to change the board's settings. So that will be Jim Weise:

 

Got my answer......animated avatars are no longer allowed for members because of bandwith, so if you have one now "DON"T CHANGE IT."

 

That's what I was posting all the time........:laugh: :laugh: :laugh:



But if I host my own animated avatar, I'm using my own bandwidth....
