Anybody ever use this product? Do you think it would be effective on this roof rust. I believe it was the area where the vinyl top had ribs, as there is one on either side of the roof. The metal itself still feels solid enough to salvage. I really dont want to replace the roof (already have to replace the filler panel and possibly the trunklid) but if I have to I will. 2012-11-05_15-56-23_850.jpg

Yes I've used it. Basically the same as phosphoric acid you can buy at home Depot for much less.
Rust neutralizers are readily available at most local auto supply shops.

Ideally it'd be best to media blast the roof prior to filler being used to fill all the pitting but if thats not possible you can use conventional methods to prep the metal.

You could use navel jelly and steel wool, it makes a nice finish but is a lot of work. As mentioned above nothing is going to fix the pits. The best would be to have it blasted then apply an epoxy coat primer then skim coat the bad spots and finish smooth.

I figured it wouldn't fix the pits, and some filler will be needed. Just want to stop further rust. Still debating on a new vinyl top. Luckily the metal isn't all rusted through.
