Is there someone on here that has a 75 LeSabre with the 8.5” that can tell me what axle bearings it has. Trying to supply the correct bearing for a customer that is not local, and I can’t put my eyes on it. It is an 8.5”,and it is a bolt-in axle. It is either SET9 or SET10. Maybe someone on here has had theirs apart?

    set 10
Full size cars should all use the 10A or set 10 if not c-clip

The BCA book gives 3 possible choices, but since it is not a c-clip,it narrowed to two. And now we have one.

Mid seventies there should be no sealed bearings used anymore. There should only be 2 choices. C-clip or A10 ...The A9 did not get used in the full size s\cars in the seventies...THAT I know of. ?? Jim

I haven’t seen any SET9 from the era either, but it is listed in my BCA master book. That’s why I questioned it. The car in question is not here,so I can’t physically look at it.

I was looking in the Timkin book. No A9 for the LeSabre only in 1970 when it was still using the A-body center from the skylark.
I think when it went into the 71-76 era they put it in the FULL SIZE car chassis

That might be why. BCA combines those years. They didn’t separate them.

And again....Anything can be right...We have to physically see the rear. Which is why I tell everyone to pull the part and measure...Only true way to get it right. :) Jim

I suggested that, but then he suggested to just send both types of bearings. I just figured that wasn’t necessary.
I have also found other errors in the BCA book before,so that is always the possibility too.

Maybe you can ID these bearings for me. A google search was inconclusive did seem to point towards passenger car 8.5 use. If they will work for 73-87 GM pickup 8.5 I’d like to save, if not they are available

i THINK THEY ARE ALL THE SAME bearing just older different brand part number.
ALL those bearings will fit 1965-1970 Impala or 1965-1982 12 bolt truck or 1974-1990 10 bolt 8.5 truck
or 1978-1996 wagon c-clip axles. 1.618 axle diameter.
