Aussie Thunder strikes again! Following my timing case surgery I took her out for a test run. And what better place for a shakedown than the ol' 1320 Much fun was had!
yes share the numbers......I love this pic......is it at the right rpm on the line your certainly eyeball somerthing, what appears to be the tach.
Well wasn't chasing numbers that evening. Left the spare, the Jack and tools and stuff in the boot (trunk) Already run 13.8 @97mph with a light load last time out. This was a fun trip to train my hopefully new pit-bitch, She did well , didn't miss a slip and got some video action too that we gotta work out how to get from her iPhone onto the airwaves. Ran 14.1@97mph pretty much every pass except the one where I'm eyeballing the temp gauge on the line, made the mistake of shutting her down in the staging and she jumped from 100 to 120C , so I took a Sunday drive to a 15.1 on that pass. Tried to engage some rich kid in an R8 Audi in the staging lane but he was angling to run his mates in other exotica. When he fronted the far staging lane I made sure I got in behind him so we got called out together. I personally witnessed a works R8 slash 2 seconds off the Bathurst track record when I was at My Panorama a couple of months ago as volunteer flag marshal for the Super Sprints, admittedly an Audi works car with the restrictor removed and thier top driver on board. So I knew I'd get beat by this rich boy with his toy but WTF, gotta have a go! Big Block grunt got him off the line! and I was out in front till whatever drives those things got all spooled up and then he came past me like a missile and was deep in the braking area by the time I crossed the line. I parked for a while and grabbed a flame baked pizza and coke and sat in the stands for an hour with my timeslip girl. Then went back out for a few more runs before track closure at 9pm. Putting some air back in the MT Streets we cruised home. The front bench seat came into its own on the trip home, cuddle-cruising under the limit in the slow lane at 50mph was a nice counterpoint to thundering through the traps at a 100. Such luxurious cruising I have never known, I actually missed a turnoff and we wound up miles from home. Ain't life Grand! GranSport grand
Here's one I missed, check the reflection in the Regal Black mirror! I'm meaning business on this pass! No Sunday drive here, temps right on a 100C and good oil pressure. Born to Run! These pix are courtesy of the track photographer , he takes lots then uploads onto dragphotos.com.au when I get home around midnight theyre usually up and I buy the best ones. Oh and I wound up o the tracks Farcebook page too, the photographer got up in the tower to get some higher shots to no doubt show off the sexy lines of the Buick. Came over to my window in the staging lanes and said "look after this car" My beast is a rarity DownUnder
Thanks mate! and my timing case repair is sweet, definitely stood the test. No coolant or oil leaks. and cars picked up a tad better fuel economy too on last 2 fills I'm a smidge over 3miles to a litre of Premium Unleaded....maybe I've bumped the timing a little putting it back.
Cool car, obviously a good runner. Keep chipping away at it, you'll be in the 12's before you know it. Keep us posted, and glad the timing cover worked out.
Yeah I wanna see this. All black GS SHOULD RUN 12s automatically(pardon the alcohol) Simply because it's beautiful
my shirts just arrived! oh and went to 11 hours of heavy metal concert on Monday , 35 bands 5 stages, pix SLAYER, PENNYWISE, HIGH TENSION.
