its been a very bad buick day for me. i recently found a nos 70 GS hood front chrome piece after about three years of searching. ya know i paid big $$ for it. so fedex shows up this afternoon and drops a box at my front door without knocking or nothing and he runs & jumps in the truck & hauls outta there by the time i am out the door. the box has a big hole in it which looks like sombody drove a forklift into it. sure enough, i get out this super rare, very well packaged part, unwrap it, and find that the mounting stud on the drivers side end is bent down and the curve at that end just looks bent as if its pushed forward. i saw this part before i bought it and it was perfect a week ago. fedex couldnt carry it 200 miles w/o destroying it.

i tried to test fit it on a spare hood and it wont go on. i cant tell how bad it is w/o getting it in place, so i dont know if i can tweak the hood and grind the back side of the chrome and make it fit or maybe it is a total loss. pot metal doesnt straighten worth a darn. this was a very rare part ! i have had it with these so called pro shippers. if it was a poorly packed dime a dozen part they would have got it here no prob, but since its rare they insist on destroying it. folks, if you care about the parts, send them via the post office, p.o. only costs a little more and i have never had them lose one or damage one. ups & fedex just dont care, meanwhile the good parts just get rarer. :af: :af: :af:

update : the part is shot, maybe someone could use it for a driver or 1/4 mile car if they are lucky but i cant put it on a show car. fedex will have to eat this one. anybody got an nos 70 GS hood chrome they can sell me ? will pay............

    Ouch! That hurts.

I too have had good luck using the post office.

  3. Sorry to hear of this Henry. My only bad experience with a shipper has been with the post office. But the packaging was probably more of the problem than the handling. Poor packaging is one of my pet peeves. :spank:

But I'm sure UPS and FEDEX will catch up to me sooner or later.

Just remember that the post office uses Fed ex as well.
