Ever since I put a set of Wheel Vintiques wheels on the Aquamist car, I had a vibration at speed. At the time, I balanced them on an old hand spin through the center hole. I had taken the fronts to All American Auto Repair in West Islip, NY. last year and had them match mount and balance them. They have a Hunter Road Force balancer with the adapter to balance through the lug nut holes as WV suggested. The fronts had checked out and balanced up with no problem after match mounting. I put them back on and the vibration was slightly better but still there. Fast forward to last week and I was finally able to take a break from spring house maintenance and take the car out of storage. Took the rear wheels off and dropped them off with Harry at All American. One wheel turned out to be NG. One of the rear wheels took 5.5oz of weight. Harry said it was definitely in the wheel and not the tire according to the balancer. Well, I found my vibration! It zero'ed out on the balancer but I cant leave it like that. There's over 2.75oz on the face of the wheel. I ordered a new wheel from Summit. I cant want to road test it and feel the difference
I am thinking of buying a set of wheels and tires from Summit just for that reason. I would like them to guarantee balance, run out, and to be concentric.
