"Nova" in Spanish also is a star with a sudden burst of brightness. The "it doesn't go" is an urban legend.

Not that I can speak Spanish, but doesn't "va" essentially mean "goes" in Spanish? So wouldn't "no va" mean "no goes"?

The license plate on the '55 Chevy in American Graffiti is THX 138, which is a tribute to George Lucas' s THX 1138. There's references to that in other movies too, including Star Wars.
The '57 Chevy in Hollywood Knights is Popular Hotrodding's Project X.

The Cobra that the 57 races is CSX3285. It was originally a 428 car from Shelby. It was driven by the owner, Ernie Nagamatsu who owns Old Yeller powered by a Nailhead

The LS engine was actually designed by a Ford engineer, while at Ford. They decided to go with overhead cams, and he took the design to GM. There's guys that have put LS heads on 351 Windsors with little machine work because the bore spacing is extremely similar but a custom camshaft because of the intake and exhaust order being different, and a custom intake obviously.

May or may not be an urban legend-

A Chrysler executive was quoted when they introduced the EAGLE line of cars, "I hope it does better than the last car line that had 5 letters and started with "E"" (Edsel).

It could be sort of like how Chad Johnson went by Ochocinco for his number 85. But Ocho Cinco would be Eight Five.

Analogy from Snopes -- had to look it up again, couldn't quite remember it:

Assuming that Spanish speakers would naturally see the word “nova” as equivalent to the phrase “no va” and think “Hey, this car doesn’t go!” is akin to assuming that English speakers would spurn a dinette set sold under the name Notable because nobody wants a dinette set that doesn’t include a table.

The gray/silver panels on the back of the Fury in the movie “Christine” replaced the gold ones that came on the car from the factory because they didn’t show up well on camera. The “movie” panels were actually aluminum screen door bottom panel material, made in Goddard, Kansas

You ought to hook up with Mooney (Tufbuick). He did the advertising campaign(s) for Hyundai when they first came to the US.

Chevy 396's after 1970 were actually 402's (.030 over). They kept the 396 name because it already had a good reputation. (another reason to always measure your block before ordering pistons!)

That I learned from my father. He despised Volkswagen...couldn't really blame him from what he went through.
In high school I briefly dated a girl nicknamed "Hands" because she was good with her hands. She picked me up from home once in her VW Bug. That was the last time I went out with her...damn it!

Who is the guy that got the patent for the cruise control, delay wiper, spray, high beam and all on the turn signal lever. I heard GM, Ford and Chrysler paid royalty's to him??

Philco stands for Philadelphia Electric Company. Charles Rolls, of Rolls-Royce fame was the first Britisher ever killed in a powered aircraft.
