This car started life as a 71 Skylark Custom. 350-4 , automatic transmission, P.S., P.B., tilt, AM/FM, rear speaker, bucket seats, console, gauges, clock, remote driver’s mirror, vinyl top, wide rocker mouldings, and wheel opening mouldings. All it needed was the box checked for the GS option! It was built at Fremont and has been in the southern Los Angeles area it’s whole life. And had not been wrecked. Sam purchased it from the original owner in 2005. He brought it to me in January 2006 without engine and transmission. I disassembled it to the empty body setting on the chassis. It was painted locally while I was recovering the seats and doing anything else that I could while the body was gone. When it returned, I replaced the upper and lower front control arm bushings, lower ball joints, drag link, and idler arm. Painted the front frame, firewall, and dash. I assembled the car, recovered the seats, installed new carpet, and had it ready for the 2006 GS Nationals. It was an iron headed engine when I first built the car. Later he decided to go quicker. The rear end was done in 2012 (as I remember). The heads, intake, and converter was in 2014.

The best run is 11.37 at the 2015 GS Nationals. The et slips in the photo are from the 2018 Nat’s.
The only differences between street driving the car and racing are using the open air cleaner, setting the trans cable to shift at a higher rpm (trans shifts on its own), and installing the racing wheels and tires!
    Thanks, John

I have been asked about the number of miles this car has on it since it was built. I received the paperwork from Sam. I went through it this morning.
I completed the car in May, 2006. The odometer reading was 18105.
The engine update (which includes the Edelbrock heads) was completed in March, 2014. The odometer reading was 22563.
The current odometer reading is 24680. The total is 6,575 miles.
There are a great number of invoices and the original window sticker, warranty papers, and original sales receipts. All of this goes with the car.
    Thanks, John

Sam has decided that he would like to go to The Buick Bash at Quaker City Dragway in June!
I will bring his car (unless someone buys it first) for him. I will bring parts to sell and set up at the trailer.
I will get a list together and start a thread on Parts for Sale!
    Thanks, John

I had the pleasure this past weekend of meeting John Osborne for the first time, because I bought Sams enclosed trailer and I must say I feel alittle guilty because it was very understated! I will have many years of happy trails with it I'm sure, and John was extremely helpful and accommodating, and I also got shown around and got to see his J. Deere tractors and his beautiful GSX race cars. WoW!

I also got to see this Buick that he has up for sale for his friend Sam.

I tried to talk him into leaving Sam's gorgeous Aqua Mist car in the trailer and throw it in on the deal because let me tell you it is absolutely beautiful!! Nothing was left needing attention on this car, its so nice and very correct, paint and body are straight and near flawless, its clean clean clean! If anybody is looking for a very fast super-nice Street/race car this should definitely be the first one to see and consider.
A great deal from a great Guy can be had by someone on this Board and you cannot find anything near this quality I promise you.

John’s or Sam’s car, flip a coin and I’ll take the one you don’t want! Both cars are perfect examples of Fast With Class!
