I am looking at input bearings for my Muncie. OEM part number is 41307B. I have come across bearings designated as 41307V and 41307FV. What do the letters on the end of the number stand for?

Are you sure you have those numbers right? Is this on the right side of the trans by the bell? I think your looking at the date code. Im going out on a limb here but is it maybe P1B07B? If so, all Muncie date codes start with a "P". The 1 would be 1971, B is February and 07 is the 7th of the month. B is M21.

So an M21 from February 7th, 1971 if In reading into it correctly.

Pre 1970 Muncies would have studs on the shift forks while 70 and up would have threaded holes for bolts

Disregard my last post. I misread your post and thought you were trying to decode the trans. Sorry..

Your talking about the actual number on the input bearing. It looks like it interchanges with this one-

If you want, I can give you the number to Larry at D&L Transmissions. He is the Muncie Guru around these parts

We must have been posting at the same time!

Thanks for the link. My question remains.....do you know what the letters at the end of the number 41307 designate? For example, the oem has a B on the end, but what is the difference if it has a V or FV on the end instead.......such as:

    41307B
    41307V
    41307FV?????
