Any of u fellows ever suffered from Vertigo? On Jan. 6, I woke up and rose from my bed but then decided to lay back down. All of a sudden everything started to spin - Vertigo! I had this 6+ years ago and it took 3 days to pass. By days end it was gone. On Jan 8, again it occurred and was somewhat mild. Wednesday morning all hell broke loose. I was sick, vomiting, dizzy, everything was spinning, hardly able to walk. I spent the next 4 days on the couch and eating very little but by Friday I felt pretty good. Saturday was the first day that I ate a a full meal of homemade soup. However, today, is the day I feel back to normal.
I have friend who presents with vertigo every 14 months.
There is nothing worse to be ill with than vertigo...

My daughter gets that once in a while. Doc gave her some medicine that helped but took
a few days to get over it. Also, I think they discovered she was somewhat allergic to cats
and she has three, so now they are not allowed in her bedroom. Not sure if that cured it
because as you say it pops up again at odd times. Seems like it is virus or something that
attacks the inner ear. Been to a doctor about it?

A navy doctor told my wife she had the worst case of vertigo he had seen. One shot you'll be up in a few minutes..... Nope didn't work, another shot and ah hour later better. He said Never go on a cruise! She read where chewing gum helps. She chews gum almost every day and no more vertigo???? weird but works for her.

Yep, all these things seem related to inner ear problems. I had never been bothered with vertigo per se, but never did like open spaces with fast moving clouds and dis-similar motion between two things (one goes up while another goes sideways). It would make me nauseous to the point of almost incapacitated. That prevented me from getting or even applying for three of the positions out of nine possible and I was already qualified in three at my last job. It got to the point that I was not able to use the manlift on the outside to work on silo level transmitters. Therefore advancement possibilities were slim to none. I saw the writing on the wall.
I hadn't thought about the chewing gum aspect...

I get mild case that can last for weeks. Has never got to the room spinning degree just dizzy. Not bad enough to stop me from doing anything though. I have a feeling mine is inner ear. I have lost quite a bit of hearing lately and now wear hearing aids. I have fullness and pressure on right side of head and my ear pops and cracked a lot. I like to eat the hottest food I can find. Afterburner/meltdown Buffalo wings etc. it does help a little. Hang in there.

I have positional vertigo that comes and goes, but it is very mild. Affects me mostly when laying down and I turn my head. It only lasts for a few seconds, and is in no way disabling, just an annoyance. I get it more in the Spring and Fall, might be an allergic reaction.

Had it once and it leveled me.I couldn't get back up off of the floor and had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. I couldn't walk or drive for over a week. I don't ever care if I ever get it back..Just watching TV or the ceiling fan made it so much worse too..

I would suggest that there is no such thing as "benign" Vertigo. Orientation/balance issues can result in falls, and take it from one who has still not fully recovered from a busticated leg from a fall more then a year ago, falls can be serious. You need to see a doctor - most likely an ear specialist.

Certain drugs cause vertigo as a side effect. For example, one of the most common over the counter allergy medications, Loratadine.

I had inner ear surgery when I was a baby and have suffered from vertigo all my life. I used to get sick often from it (1 or 2 times a year more often as a child) but as I have gotten older it does not affect me nearly as often. I have not been sick from it in several years now (knock on wood lol).

I've had it come and go-just dizziness when getting up too fast from laying down. It is nasty! Almost as bad as the non stop tinnitus I've had for 25 plus years. A doctor told me that there are small particles almost like crystals in the inner ear fluid. If too many of the particles get jostled to one side and aren't as evenly distributed as they should be, that will set off vertigo.

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (or BPPV) is the most common cause of vertigo, a false sensation of spinning. It is caused by the crystals in the inner ear getting out of place and sending false signals to the brain that don't match what the rest of the body senses. It's called benign because it is not life threatening.

When I was 6 months old, I had a mastoidectomy to relieve the pain I suffered where I cried all the time. One doctor said I had swollen glans, but an army surgeon made the correct diagnosis.

I have exactly the same thing around the spring and fall. Goes away in a couple of weeks for me.

I have a coworker with Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. She had a rough few months but with some consultation and care from health pros she's back to 100%
