Just got my new Motor Trend magazine and read a column by Matt Stone regarding Nicola Bulgari, designer and producer of SUPER expensive Bulgari watches, jewelry, silver etc. Apparently, he's a BUICK NUT! Owns 70 of them including an 87 GN. The article mentions that he went to Buick with the intent of trying to buy and have installed one of the turbo indy race motors (Robert Guerrero put one on the Indy pole in 1992 at over 230 mph). It doesn't say if he was successful in acquiring one of those motors, but I'm sure that money wasn't a reason. Apparently, he also owns a 70 GS 455 Stage 1 convertible.......another super rare Buick, and the LAST 99 Riviera Silver Arrow sold to a customer. Other cars include a 53 Skylark Convertible and matching 96 Roadmaster and Roadmaster Wagon, both with 535 HP 502 Big Block motors (Before jumping on keeping the Buick Powerplant comments, please note that these cars had the Chevy 350 LT1 motors used in the Impala and Caprices). The 70 Buicks that he owns is actually part of a larger 120 car collection. I'd love to see the complete run down of what he owns, especially the rest of the Buicks. The 99 Riviera is the newest he owns, so the others are all earlier models for sure. What I like is his philosophy which Matt Stone said is an affinity for historically correct, original restorations, but yet will modify one in a minute if it doesn't meet his performance expectations. I wonder what he wound up doing with the GN if he couldn't get the Indy race motor for it. VERY COOL STUFF! Alan
He will be in Flint for the Centennial Celebration in July with at least 10 cars, he has donated cars and other cool stuff to the Buick Gallery and Research Center at the Sloan Museum in Flint! RV
One of 18 If you talk to him, see how he feels about financing the restoration of a 1 of 18 '71GS 455, 4-speed numbers matching convertible!!!
