These do look to be in good shape. The center caps are incorrect but these wheels are hard to find in good condition. Probably a bargain.
They quit using the register ring on these wheels after 1970 didn’t they? I know the set on my LXXV Riviera didn’t have them.
Yes . Only the 66-70 wheels had them. And they did have a purpose contrary to what some say. They actually supported the wheel and did not rely on the lug nuts and wheel studs to carry the weight of the car .
That’s what I thought their purpose was. The wheels with register rings wouldn’t fit the later 70s cars which is probably why they were often removed.
15" x 6" size. Likely #853's. Yes hard to find. #895's turn up frequently - and they are hard to sell.
I've been looking for a set of 853's (I think) for my '70 Wildcat, but I don't know enough about these wheels to tell if that's what they are. So the register ring puts them in late 60's to '70? When the wheel chart says "Yes" (for the 853's) or "No" (for the 802's) for disc brakes, how do I interpret that for a car with front disc and rear drum brakes? I spoke to the man in SC. Those are 802 wheels.
Just got these in. Mixed years. About half have the rings. Average condition. No caps. $25 ea. Local pickup only Northern California.
