Where's the sunroof switch situated in your car ? If it's in the dash, James might be able to find it or locate the mounting hole ?

You gotta admit, that's one heck of a sunroof it's got now!

I know where there is an Electra with a green dash, is it the same as in the Riv? I have someone coming over here for Easter, so maybe she could bring it back to Europe, she lives in Belgium...

I'd be very interested in a pair of rear quarters from a 2 door LeSabre or Centurion. I'm trying to repair rust on mine so minor dents are OK but I certainly don't want more rusty parts.

I've heard some good stories about using Greyhound for shipping large parts. For me the trick is finding them first, then figuring out shipping.

and if this Electra has green floormats, maybe you can wrap the dash in them before it is brought to Belgium :Brow: :Brow:

Rivvy dashes are identical, except for the passenger sides, which have the faces "scooped out". An Electra/LeSabre dash would go right in, but look different, having the straight across passenger side shape.

The only 2-door body I've found is a '71 Impala, but it's the spitting image of my '71 LeSabre. I don't recall if it had rust, but I'll check and let you know.

I take it you've got rust around the front and rear of the wheel openings, where it's rusting through from the inside because the rear window leaks? :Brow: Danged GM body engineers, you'd think they could have done better than that... :spank:

Anyway, I'll see what it looks like, and if it's decent, shoot you some pics. If you don't hear from me by Tuesday or Wednesday, yell at me because I'm getting absent-minded...

A lot of people want 455's too, if that still has the motor in it, which it looks so, then you could probably sell it for a roll of dough. They are also in quite a demand as well. :TU:

In 73, the dashes were the same throughout the lineup...even Rivs. So, if you find a 73 Riv, you could interchange it with a Centurion, LeSabre, or Electra, pending you have the nameplate for the passenger side.

    James,
I'd be interested in the 72 trunk lid, no louvres... ( it looks fairly straight and solid, yes/no?).
One way to get it to me would be freight collect by Yellow Transport.
I'm in Manitoba Canada. I've shipped large pieces by Yellow collect before, from Kansas, and it works ok.

What $$ would you want for the trunk lid?

    I also need :

the straight rear bumper rubber bumper strips
the metal door pull strap screw covers
door panel, arm rest section , both sides

    Thanks,
    john

The quarters look good and straight, just a little surface rust. Matter of fact, there are 3 other Boattails in this yard with good quarters.

They said they'll cut out and sell a quarter for $150-200, but their shipping (truck freight) would be around $500...

I don't know what's usually considered a quarter panel, but I got the impression these guys cut out a foot-thick (or better) chunk of car from behind the door to the bumper, nearly a literal quarter of the car!

I looked in 4 Boattails, and not one of the pull strap screw covers. Do those things throw themselves out the windows??? The green door panels are shot, only the metal interior bits are any good, like the A-pillar covers, etc.
The rear bumper rubber strips are good, except the white rubber strip "inserts" have all shrunk in length a couple of inches each. Pictures are here and here. (note the raised end of the trunk lid... :Do No: ) Do you HAVE to get the bumper off to get the rubber off?

The trunk lid is pretty straight and solid, has some surface rust along the inside edges and around the lock area, and the lock has been removed, leaving some bent metal, but not too bad. Small dings around the lock. If you're interested, $95US + shipping.

btw, are all Boattail trunk lids the same? Like I said, there are 3 others, all '73 models...

ewing, you might want to look at this thread, he's got a '73 decklid for $60, and sounds like he'd have a '72.

Just closing the doors will make them pop off and getting lost in the interior...But you can also check with a LeSabre or Electra model up to the mid-70's

Yes, but most of the times the bolts are so rusted and far gone, that they will start to move around in the rubber strip if you try to get the nuts off.

No, every year is different, but 71 (with louvres) and 72 (without louvres) will interchange, the 73 Riviera is a complete different car if you look closely at the body parts. Only the doors and windows are the same, if you're looking for bolt-on/bolt-off interchangeability of body parts.

Thanks James for checking it out...
I'll keep looking, should be able to find a good one ( Maybe get lucky and find one closer to home).
I would like to get the rubber rear bumper strips, but if you have to deal with a yard owner, it may not be worth your trouble. You likely need to get the bumper off to allow you to get at the bumper strip stud nuts.

No problem, I'll keep on the lookout for a '72 Boattail...makes me wonder, there are 3 '73's, one '72, and zero '71's...actually, there's not a single '71 Buick anything in this yard  .

I'll see about the bumper rubber, if I can get it from them without having to cut the bumper off, I'll let you know. :beer

James, if one of the 73's got a decent (not faded, nice chrome) right woodgrain dash bezel (radio/speed alert etc).......

It sounds like you are out at that yard frequently. Would you know if they had any Lincoln Mark V's being parted? I have a 78 that needs both quarters badly due to rust up high under the vinyl top around the little opera windows. The yards around here do have a few Marks, but they make my car look pristine. With the humidity and salty Gulf air here in coastal Louisiana, finding good quarters is impossible. These cars nearly all had vinyl roofs, and they have suffered the same rust as mine. The lower quarters are easy to find, but the roof pillar area is usually swiss cheese. Abilene is a long way from here, but plenty close enough for good panels to be shipped, or I could run out there with my car trailer and pick em up. No rush, and I hope no one sees a Buick guy checking out a disco era Lincoln. Could be bad for the reputation! Thanks, Rudy E.
