Had Marty at Powersteering.com rebuild and convert the stock 17:1 steering gear to the quick ratio 12.7:1! This Boat should be pretty responsive now! Awesome customer service and quality product.
Can't wait to start reading about your car when it's back on the road! Any thoughts on what wheels/tires you are going to use to plant the power of the turbo engine and get the most out of it in the corners? It's going to be one helluva car!! :TU:
Jason, Do what was done on the early Camaro's with disc brakes. It had a clip actually holding it to the upper control arm. Tom T.
Well, after 5 months of being on backorder, I finally got the ADDCO front sway bar. At first glance it looked like it would bolt right up...boy was that not the case. I had to fabricate a mount extension to relocate the drivers side mounting bushing and drill an extra hole on the passenger side to move the bar out so that the ears are roughly in the same position. The end links wont bolt up properly with the suspension at full droop so those will have to wait. I did write to ADDCO about these issues and while they did reply back in a tinely fashion, they basically said they never had issues mounting the bar...I think thats probably bullshit since this bar is only compatible for a few cars and theyre all rare cars that wouldnt typically upgrade the bar. Plus, the fact that i had to wait 5 months for them to make it, im thinking they havent done a test fit on Riv. Ill post pics tomorrow of the mods i had to do.
Looking forward to seeing the mods you had to make. Out of curiosity, given the fab work you had to do, would it be that much more to mount the '94-'96 Impala bar? It's too narrow at the front bends to fit without some sort of extension off the frame.
Below you can see the drivers side mount extension i had to make. This allowed me to center the bar and gain clearance from the pitman arm.
For the passenger side mount i had to mount the bushing bracket as far forward on the aft mounting hole in the frame. This caused me to have to drill a new hole in the frame so that i could bolt down both ends of the mount bracket. All in all, not too difficult but for a bar that is supposedly bolt it, it would never have worked otherwise.
