Body/ chassis bushings- year 2020- what is the most correct supplier? TPP, Fusick, CARS, Todd..?

There are old threads with dated material, then some updated ones from 2018... Then new members found new information... Then I saw that CARS BM644A now has a thinner washer and is now different.

With this now being 2020, is CARS individual pieces still the best pieces? What about their body kit? How about The Parts Place? Todd Miller's set? The Fusick set?

I did search for NOS 1377367 without any luck.

So, as of today, what is the "most correct" set to buy??

Oh no, a quick search of Inline Tube, Fusick, and Ames shows the pictures of their products have changed. They're showing the lower cushion to be that disaster of a separate washer and cushion, not the molded in washer like before. If CARS still has theirs available, I would get those.

Inline is still showing the correct deep indent mount for under the doors (INL12642, for Pontiacs) so at least that one is still available

The ones we currently use are from TPP.

Here is there Description and Picture:

These are high quality rubber bushings with steel inserts just like the factory.

Will work on Hardtop or Convertibles. Concours Level according to the Manufacture.

    Fits 1968 – 1972

    Source – TPP

I also sell the correct Body Bolts (in the correct Quantity) for our Buick's as well. (And replacement Nuts)

Todd, I don't recall there being a washer for the lower side of the bushings. When I installed the ones I used on the convertible, I ended up using the lower ones that were on the car before, since they had washers molded into them. One would have to supply their own washer for the underside of the bushing where the bolt goes.

My "body bolt kit" supplies the bolts and the washers. The TPP body bushings are just that...bushings. These are also solid black in color so the metal insert blends in and is hard to see in the photos.

    Great topic though.

I may start to offer other brands just to give my customers some options.

Todd has the bolts from AMK. Those are considered the closest to OEM and may even be made by the original manufacturer.
Inline Tube also offers flanged head/pointed end bolts. These appear to have different marking on the head.:

SS396/GroundUp has the best value for the bushing/bolt sets. They're not identical to the originals but at least have flanged head bolts.... no pointed ends but you won't see that after install anyway.
When I bought a full set from CARS 10+ years ago (and paid a premium), I just got generic bushings and hardware. If you want bushings closer to originals, you have to buy them separately..... and spend 3x more than a GroundUp set.
I sourced some individual bushings from Restoration Specialties for my 66 GS. Some locations (R wheelwell, Trunk) used larger diameter bushings than the other locations. 64-67 use different bushings than your 68-up, so my experiance may not apply to your car.
Steele Rubber is another supplier with individual bushings.

For future reference. These are the original body mounts for my 65 and my 66 GS. Note the bottom washers are not molded into the rubber.

I will post pictures of the ones from my 70. They have traces of yellow and have the molded in washer.

Something else... some of my body bolts were zinc plated, not black oxide like the AMK bolts. I will upload pictures when I get home. This car was not undercoated and the bolts have never been removed...

Different factories and different suppliers may account for the differences in the OEM finish too.

I get that, Bill. I see many frame off's that typically have the black phos body bolts. I would think that zinc would be acceptable. Splitting hairs.. However, for those that want to be really anal..

Here is the "Body Mounting Pad" from Steele. I don't see any other Mount in the catalog for Buick though - just these. . . .

    BuickBodyPad_Steele.jpg

    These Retail for $16.69 Each.

I do have an account with Steele now and have begun adding there products to my website!

I can get these if anyone is in need of some.

I've put together a kit that is now available on my website.

It utilizes "The Parts Place" Concours Body Bushings, AMK Body Bushing Hardware (Phosphate Flange Bolts),
AMK Bushing Washers, Core Support Bushing Kit and correct AMK Hardware
and 2) Extra Replacement Body Bolt nuts for anyone needing to replace a couple. (These are available separately if more are needed) Kit includes 2 though.

TPP's Body Bushings are nice quality. The only difference I really see is that the Metal Inserts are Black rather than a Zinc type finish like the factory had.
I don't feel that's a huge deal as they're not really visible once installed.

    Price is $205.00

The artwork on the CARS website is showing the BM644A lower cushion still having the correct molded in washer and is about half that price. Maybe could source these through them at a savings to you.
