I am to replace the body mounts on a -61 Invicta closed body. The shims that has been there are long gone. How do I measure what shim size to put between the mounts and the body. The assembly manual only says " shim as required" exept for the one above the kick-up wich it says "do not shim". Wich leads me to the conclusion that this is the zero point. But what about the rest?

If not already get yourself an official Buick Shop Manual and a Chassis Manual for your year of Buick … I have a 57 Roadmaster and recently replaced the body to frame mounts … most likely nearly the same on the 61 … so the diagram in the 57 Shop Manual refers to Shims but these in reality are the rubber insulators . The entire setup consists of the bolt with a large thick round 1-1/2 'washer that inserts into a 'round" thick rubber insulator that sets into the bottom side of the frame mount flange, on top of the frame mount and between the frame mount and the body pan is next in order another "square" rubber insulator then a large thick U shared washer … the bolt with is 3/8 inch is torqued to 30-35 ft lbs …

Replacements can be had from a place called " Restoration Specialties" and they have a catalogue or from " Steele Rubber Products " …

    Thanks for your reply.
I do have the shop manual. Infact i think i have all the shop manuals that are aviable.
On the net i found a description concerning the 1960 model. And it says that with the body resting on the bushings but not tightened add shims where required to get a tight fit. So i'll have try that when i have found all bushings.
