Got a new choke pull off installed. There is definitely a difference when I had it running, but I didn't get a chance to take it out on the road. Will try to take it out tomorrow to see if the problem is fixed. Thank you all for your help.
Ok, took it out for a test. It still lags but nowhere close to what it used to do. The tension in the flap is pretty good where it won't just open. Should I tighten it a bit more to see how it acts? Maybe check the timing?
Might tighten it up a little to see if it takes away any more bog. Good job, you are getting there. Have you set you timing as the power timing thread says? If not, find that thread and follow it exactly as it instructs, and then the next thing you will need are some new rear tires.
Ok, I'll do that. I haven't set the timing yet per that write up. That was on my skylark to do list. I picked up a vacuum advance kit. Should I install that now, or wait to get the bugs out? Oh and the good news is I have a brand new set of rear tires just waiting to be put on after I burn up every ounce of rubber on the old ones.
I would say if it is running pretty good now, just some hesitation, go ahead with the advance kit and timing. That will really wake up your Buick.
Make one improvement at a time and road test each one. This way if something goes wrong it will not be complicated to figure out what it was.
So, i took it in and got her all fixed up. The secondary rod hanger was all bent up and not opening properly along with me incorrectly running one of the vacuum lines. That hanger, I looked at 100 times and thought there was something wrong but couldn't place it. I'm such a newb. But it gets off the line pretty quick now and I couldn't be happier.
