Buick 350/340/300 flywheel

Discussion in 'U-shift em' started by white66skylark, Nov 30, 2015.

  1. Hey all, Im converting my 66 skylark to a 4 speed with a muncie m21. I have a buick 340 currently being built for the car. I was wondering if anyone had a buick 340/350/300 flywheel they would be willing to sell. I cannot afford the t/a performance one, so Im hoping someone has one used.

    Thanks in advance.

You may have better luck finding a 225 flywheel since Jeep used them for several years. Why are you using an M21? You would need a 3.70 rear for that to work. If your car was an automatic it probably has a 2.78 rear, you'd never be able pull out with an M21, or, you'll be replacing the clutch every month. That rear would work well with a Saginaw with a 3.11 1st gear, 4th gear would be like overdrive.

  3. is that a direct bolt on flywheel?

also, I plan on re gearing the diff and putting in a posi. It has 2.78:1 rear gears as it sits and i very much do not want those haha

I have a 350 one from a Jeep that had a 350 Buick motor in it. It's not a 10.4 like normal,it's a super hard to get 11 inch one. It's not cheap though..Have it on my one 350 motor that was put in my 71 GS before I parted it.

I had the same flywheel on a 300 then 340 and finally a 225 (remember the gas lines in the 70s), same bolt pattern. The 225 flywheel is heavier to help the odd fire engine idle smoother. You can easily have that extra weight machined off, it's all on the outer diameter.

How you are enjoying using 225? And how it's serve you so far?
