Notes About Upgrading From Iron Heads to TA 350 Stage 1 SE’s
" long valves. You CAN NOT use valves from 350 iron heads.
    • These heads require the use of a TA 1128AL (Head Bolt Kit) or TA 1133AL (Head Stud Kit). If you already own a TA 1128 or TA 1133, you need to purchase Four (4) replacement bolts/studs (they are longer) to upgrade your kit to an Aluminum Head version, Part Nos TA 1128X or TA 1133X.
    • These heads require 5.160" long valves. You CAN NOT use valves from 350 iron heads. Correct valves are available from TA Performance. TA 1082 (1.94" Intake Valve) TA 1083 (2.02 Intake Valve), TA 1092 (1.60" Exhaust Valve).
    • When using TA roller rockers, the exhaust rocker will not sit directly over the exhaust valve, it will be off to the side. This is normal, due to the exhaust valve being moved from the factory location to allow the use of a larger intake valve. This won't pose any issue to performance or reliability. If you want to correct the exhaust rocker location, a retrofit kit is available for $65.
    • Use a gasket type spark plug such as NGK BCPR9ES, R5671A-9 or equivalent.

Well, That answers that! Thanks. The Rover heads only need 5.060 length valves.

Not implying you can't do it with steel valves.. I am just saying is counter productive. Heavy weight takes toll on valvetraun.. especially.. springs. Put something on a bed and bounce it. Compare to the lighter object.. that bed is going to get worn a lot sooner with a heavier object

My project is in the works. Block is at the machinist, and I have a big pile of parts. Hoping to have more details to post in a week or two.

Several builds are in process but I wouldn't expect to see completed engines for a little while yet. My own experience with the Rover heads tells me that the engine really should be built for the heads for best results but unlike the Rover heads the 350 heads have a chamber volume that should allow a direct swap. Which would be awesome on a stock engine but if someone is going to drop that much money on it I'm guessing they will take it a little further.

Anyone know the lift limit for the new heads? TA used a .650(?) lift cam, so I assume not much more than .700.

I’d give Tim a call at TA Performance. Betcha he knows.

Mike jr's cam is .365 lobe lift times 1.65 rocker ratio equals .602 lift at valve.
If there are higher lobe cam cores available, your valve lift will be proportionate to it and your rocker ratio.

I'm building a worthy shortblock over the winter. Come next fall, if nothing stupid happens, I'll have a set.

I figured you would have a set! I'm just curious because money investment from the company and all the bitching and complaining in this thread. Then the product comes and I don't know if anyone's doing what they say.. I'm looking at the community as a whole if you want this to continue. The community is its worst own enemy for the longevity for the performance market to continue.

I know Sean has a set can I play some other gentleman.
