So, this will be a dumb question. Can rocker arm wear(because of age etc) cause a misfire? The arms move with ease, but maybe are not making the valves open properly. Can this cause damage? They tick slightly on a cold start, then are quiet when warmed up. Could there be an ever so slight tolerance issue causing an incomplete opening? On that end, can a replacement be had, and has it damaged the engine any?

it could cause a valve to open somewhat at the wrong time or cause it not to seal fully. i think it would destroy a rod though if this was the case especially if it was bad enough to cause a misfire.

No, noise, yes, misfire, no. If the rocker arms were that bad, you would hear it.

I don't know the history of your engine but I will throw this thought out at you. pay attention if you have lifter tap o that will cause it to not run properly it could be cause by worn out cam or bad lifter(s) (make sure you use proper oil with zddp). you can take off your rocker arms and flip them over and get a general idea of how much they are wore, the one shity thing with Buick rockers their non-adjustable. the cheaper way I know of, which I did is the adjustable pushrods from TA they seem to work right I have pushed on them to 6000 RPM (shift 1st to 2nd a little late) on a burnout once and still held up

Worn rockers arms will be noisey, but they wont cause any catastrophic engine damage.
