That's the difference between a Communist Chinese forging for a popular application, and a Communist Chinese billet.

A quality forging for a popular application will cost about as much as a Chinese billet, and a quality billet crank with all the trimmings will make your head explode.

As I have checked the cost of many forged cranks for American motors, I have concluded that the forged cranks in most cases are far less expensive than a billet crank machined In the Chinese Aerospace community. This is due to quantities manufactured. There is currently no forged crank made anywhere In the world for a 400, 430, 455 Buick. Since 100’s to 1000’s Would have to be sold To pay for the tooling then pay for the machine work, it is unlikely anyone Will ever make one. There are other problems getting the forging out of the tooling due to the Buick counterweight locations. So here is the elephant in the room. If people don’t like the Communist Chinese making parts for their car then people probably Don’t have any electronic devices in their home. I guess someone might ask India the cost of a high quality forged crank. For most Buick racers who turn 7000 and over with a stock Buick cast crank, how many would buy a High quality forged crank if It became available?
