GOOD MORNING. I AM IN NEED OF INFO/SPECS REGARDING DRIVE-SHAFT LENGTH FOR REGAL455-COMBOS. IT HAS BEEN OVER A DECADE SINCE I GOT THE LAST DRIVE-SHAFT (i think it was from a 67'-69' CAMARO WITH TH400) FOR THIS COMBO. I CONTACTED K&M DRIVELINE IN BROOKLYN, THEY SUGGESTED FABRICATING ME A CUSTOM STEEL SHAFT FOR @ $350. PLEASE ... ANY SERIOUS INFO. THANKS FOR LISTENING, AND HAVE A GREAT DAY.

I have a stock lenght alumn. driveshaft. That I got from Inland Empire..Stock as in the same shaft I used went the turbo V-6 was in the car. when I installed the V8 I never removed the trans from the car so the driveshaft lenght never changed.. Turbo 400 and stock GN rear also..

Hey, Larry. I Appreciate Again Your Expertise. I Am Stuck On The Th350 Tranny With The Buick455/th350/gn Rear-driveshaft Combo ... The "200" And "400" Are Basically The Same Overall Length ... And The 350 Is Shorter In Lenght. How Did You Get The 350 Bolted Up? This Excites Me. Please.

You just need to find a turbo 350 transmission with the Buick bolt pattern. They are not as plentyful as standard (chevy) 350 bolt pattern ones but not hard to find.

Larry ... You Are A "king!" I Made The Right Move When I First Responded To Your Input. The "bolt-pattern." When I Hand-picked My First Two "th400" Trannys, I Made Sure They Had The "squared-off-u-shape" Of Buick's Bolt Pattern. Youtheman!!! Thanks Again.

DON ... I APPRECIATE YOUR TIME AND REPLY AS WELL. SOMETHING TOLD ME I CAN USE THE GN DRIVESHAFT WITH THE "BUICK455/REGAL/Th400" COMBO! LARRY JUST EDUCATED ME ON USING A "BUICK350" TRANNY WITH SAME COMBO. THANKS MUCH AGAIN. I WILL CHECK SUMMIT FOR PRICES RIGHT NOW.

GENTLEMEN: THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR EXPERTISE. V8BUICK.COM PROVIDED ME WITH THE CORRECT INFO I NEEDED. MY FINAL DECISSION IS: GN DRIVESHAFT FOR $75 AND TH400 YOKE ($25 AT JUNKYARD). AROUND DECEMBER, I WILL HAVE MOTOR BROKEN IN/MONEY FOR ALUMINUM DRIVESHAFT. DAN SMITH TEXED ME STATING THE STOCK REGAL/GN DRIVESHAFT IS THE SAME ... THE ONE ON THE GN IS @ 1-INCH SHORTER (LARRY SAID IT FIRST) AND EITHER IS FINE. I CHECKED GOOGLE AND FOUND ONE GUY WITH A 1000-HP BUICK GN WITH SLICKS ... WITH STOCK DRIVESHAFT. MY FRIEND GREG HEARN TOLD ME TODAY ABOUT A FRIEND OF HIS IN ALBANY SHATTERED HIS DRIVESHAFT WITH HIS 9-SECOND CHARGER. MY SET-UP MAY GET ME INTO LOW 12's ... WITH A-LOOOOOOT OF PRACTICE. THANKS AGAIN. LATA.

Back when I had still had the V6 in the car I went 10.80 with the stock drive shaft. Never had any issues.. But having been drag racing for the past 40 years I've seen drive shafts break in 14 second cars.. go figure..:Do No:

... Morning, Don. Thanks For The Info. My Plans Are Gn Shaft Up To The Point Where I Can Beat On The Motor After Break-in ... Then I Buy The Aluminum Driveshaft. Do You See A Problem With 3-inch Steel Driveshaft Instead Of The Aluminum Piece?

The only issue I see with the 3" steel shaft is weight. That will be a heavy shaft.. I got my 3" Aluminnum one from Inland Empire it wasn't cheap ( I can't find receipt for it) .. But when I opened it I didn't want to install it.. I looked so good, I wanted to hang it on the wall and just look at it... My wife shot that idea down ... real quick!! LOL
If you do get the 3" shaft you may need to get the round style driveshaft loop. I had the one that Poston sold that matched the contor of the floor and was flat across the bottom, and the 3" shaft hit it..
