Yeah, I'll most likely put it on a dyno when it finally comes time to play with the spray. Really, I'm going with a pretty small shot, taking all the usual precautions (pulling out some timing, colder plugs, etc), I'll have the afr gauge to watch, and coupled with my already low CR it should be pretty safe. That, and it'll only get used once in a blue moon anyway. But I agree, a few hours of dyno time would be even more insurance.

Yes, this is the true test of will power. I suggest NOT to have an automatic bottle valve opener button in reach.:TU: This way you have to plan ahead by opeing it before you start driving...and that wild hair is kept a little bit more at bay. Not that I would know anything about this:Brow:

Haha, yeah, no remote bottle valve, too easy equals too tempting. Although this isn't my first go round with giggle juice, and I didn't use it very often last time. It'll be controlled with a WOT switch and an rpm window switch for a bit more safety since its a stick car.

So unrelated to my last post, started getting some road test readings on the afr so I can finally start tweaking the carb (just in time to put it away for the winter. :( ) I also installed a 1.25" front sway bar, MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Anybody running a stock sway bar, ditch that thing and get a nice fat front bar, its a night and day difference. It still has that cool nostalgic old car feel, but really feels nice turning and on curves. Bought a rear bar too but haven't installed it, but the front bar alone was a stellar upgrade!

I have a fat sway bar sitting in the garage. Just have to get done with all the other bizillion things I haven't done on the car. Good to hear it was worth the investment though.

Very cool and well done project. I have followed it from the beginning. Its nice to see a project completed, instead of taken half way and then pushed into a corner.

Excellent work and keep us posted.

Thanks Jim, its been quite the journey. But there's still a myriad of things I plan for this car, this is just version 1.0.

Jesse, you'll be glad you did. In all fairness I expected a noticeable improvement. In taulbs car the stock setup was upgraded almost identically as what I'm doing with big bars front and rear and all boxed rear arms. I was always super impressed with how that car handled. But he did all that at once, so I wasn't sure what difference the bar alone would make. It was pretty substantial.

Wow, how did this thread make it all the way to 16 pages???
I have re-read all 16 pages today, but I didn't see what size of rims and tires you are running? Where did you buy the rims at?

You must be bored Ryan!! Haha. I may have skipped it, who knows. It's 39 pages on the tapatalk app, I'm not going back to look! They're nothing special, 15x7 wheel vintiques steelies painted to match. 235-60s front, 255's rear (for just a subtle stagger).

I put a rear bar on with boxed lower arms and I left the stock front bar. my results pretty much mirrored yours, still has that old car feel but amazing difference when going into the corners.

I went ahead and got the rear suspension put together in the car, edelbrock solid adjustable uppers and umi tubular lowers. Unfortunately I made a mistake, and the rear sway bar I bought only works with factory unboxed lowers, so that's not going in. Gonna check and adjust (if necessary) the pinion angle next time I'm out playing around in the barn.

Still playing with how I'm going to route the fuel system upgrade for the nitrous system. Biggest thing has been where to mount this and still keep the routing "clean" as I really like things like this to really appear/be well thought out and nicely done, not just easiest way to slap it in.

I have the same rear suspension setup you installed, and I stopped using the rear sway bar altogether. I'll probably receive all kinds of differing opinions, but in my case with a lowered suspension the sway bar made no difference. It was just a big piece of unsprung weight.

Hey Marko! Not too much here, how are ya??

Car-wise, all the above mentioned stuff was installed, but unfortunately some of my carb adjustments aren't agreeing with the car and when I got it out last week it was running like complete crap. So that struggle continues.

On the bright side, all the nitrous goodies are installed, but until I get it tuned in nice, theyre just for looks (of course they're mostly for looks anyway since its a not a race car.

Also, on a fun note (sarcasm), I've pretty much come to the conclusion after exhausting all avenues that my bearing clearances are on the loose side and my oil pressure is basically at the bare minimum. My oil pressure gauge is plumbed from the rear galley, so I've got another gauge I'm going to plumb to the front and see what kind of differences I've got. But I've resigned to the fact it's probably going to have a short life, so I'm just gonna drive it like I want till it breaks. I'm already scheming on a new short block, this time from someone who's been building Buicks for decades, and this one will be a nice upgrade. Until then I'm letting it rip how I want till it blows cause I'm just flat out over it... :(

What were the actual main & rod clearances/tolerances? I looked back and didn't see those details?

To be honest, I never went back and dug out my paperwork to check. I'm plumbing up the front gauge this week sometime to compare, but at the same time I almost dont even want to bother with it. It is what it is, when it breaks I'll deal with it.

If what some say is true, it will show 5 maybe more psi, which if so that in conjunction with 6 to 8 Yuengling and all will be well!

Or you can opt for what I would do, pull up the chair in front of the car say the hell with the gauge and enjoy a few more than normal Yueng,....and all will be well,..till morning comes and brings with it the headache ,drymouth and poop the size of a Volkswagen! Just my suggestion tho
