Last evening, TCM ran Bullet again. Only watched it at least 6 times. I have a question- Did the Mustang & the Charger both have open rear ends. I noticed in the scenes where there was wheel spin, it appeared that on one rear wheel spun?

Bullitt as I recall. It is an oddball.

The Mustang was a 390 with an open rear end. Steve McQueen missed the term hence the famous burnout. They left it in. Charger was 68 RT 440 and was blowing the Mustang away. They had to put super skinny tires on it to let Mustang catch up in the corners. Check it out, bicycle tires. I doubt the Charger was an open rear end.

I actually had the pleasure of recreating the Bullet chase route last year. My brother lived out there at the time. The hills are as advertised . Quite a thrill. Everyone should try it. This is the store he bought the TV dinners at. A wine store now F88EC850-6B9D-4C91-8600-4F7A0FF27782.jpeg

Bill Hickman was the driver of the Charger in Bullitt and the black Pontiac in The Seven Ups. They recycled the engine soundtrack from Bullitt and used it in The Seven Ups

And as i watched it for the umpteenth time I thought, let me look for the Buicks. I think I caught a glimpse of the rear of a 66/67 Skylark parked at a curb, other than that - nothing.

And that's why trailers now have under-ride protection! To stop from decapitating people who drive under the tail of a trailer. They call it an ICC Bar!

Great chase!! I've never heard of or seen that one either.
