If you look at the engine compartment pic, you can tell the car is probably pretty pristine by looking at the position of the camber plates as well as the "similar" angle of the upper strut mounts.....Similar being, you know, subjective......I think that Camaro is set-up for circle track racing!

Im flippin' out... well, Ill be doing something I do pretty well and thats a flip on a new project...

Went over to the widows house with Pat this afternoon, and discovered a true barn find. Not my first choice mind you, but it'll put me on the road for something later on with a rock crusher. Kinda wiped out right now from the Tomb Excavation; them darned Nubians can build tomb doors that take a hundred mules to open and this was one of them. I felt like Howard Carter in 1922 opening Tuts burial chamber. This one hasnt been opened since 2006. Almost as cool. Piles of lumber and DOA snow blowers and windows and you name it, and later this is what I came across...

With all the issues mentioned above, I felt a pretty low offer was in order; the whole deal may just become a parts car, but I hope not. Sandy the widow, seemed to think it was only worth scrap value. Up here that MAY be as much as $65 per car. Aint much. I told her $200 and she reluctantly agreed. She said she'd rather just give it to me with title and keys. Believe me, she needs the 200 more than me.

Her husband bought it as a toy car in '05. It did have some issues with cutting out, then re-starting. Pulled it into the shop to work on it and kacked in '07. I know this is a Buick forum (double DUH!), but appreciate input from the guys here and highly regard input from all. Who knows, maybe a battery and some fresh gas and away we go! Well, air in at least one tire to roll it out for a flat bed tow home LOL.

So this is as far as I could get at it so far. The clock reads 13,000. I think its a 999,999 odometer but not sure. Anybody care to comment on that? Interior is pretty decent sans some mildew, but looks decent, especially the trunk. This one is gonna take a gallon of Fabreeze hahaha... All the body pics are typical. Pretty much no rust anywhere. Gonna drag the sarcophagus outside tomorrow for Lord Carnabin to inspect. ws

Bill, they are only a 99,999 mile odometer back then. I agree, fresh fuel and battery are first. That freebie 5.0 convertible we got was just a battery as it was plum full and we're cheap, lazy, and have $0 invested. Been driving it around for weeks burning the old garbage out but it's running better and better. If it was my dollars, depending on how long it had to sit before restarting I'd guess fuel pump. Then ignition module which is common on the old first fuel injected models that still had distributors. But normally from my experience that usually just craps completely. Have to figure out if fuel or ignition if it still does it.

Some Q & As from the exspurts. So I put a battery in and turn the key to on. Should I hear the fuel pump run? Should have pressure to the return rail? Can I pump the tank empty with the pump? Tank job or rail mounted? Also need to raise the power windows 2" as they were down to help the critters in (dumb idea!)
Gonna move it outside today. Key in column to unlock the wheel, and same to put it in neutral? Darn DORFS. I dont know nuttin' aboutem'. May have to drag it with the truck if the brakes are stuck. It was absolutely NOT prepared for long term layup. Any thoughts on what to do/look for?
Any ideas on cleaning mildew (heavy) off leather stuff? See interior pics. ws

Hey. Watch the DORF comments. I owned Fords for 40 years. January Bill got me in a Chevrolet. My Son In Law works for a Dorf dealership in Sarcoxie , Missouri.

Also, FORD...Fix or repair daily. Found on road dead. I think I know them all. Continue on...ppat

Alright, the pump is in the tank. When you turn the key on, it should "prime" for a second and you should be able to hear it. It won't just keep running with the line disconnected unless the engine is running, and there should be a Schrader valve on the fuel rail in the engine compartment somewhere to check fuel pressure (I haven't even touched a TC in years, so not exactly sure where, but it'll be obvious that's what it is). The key is in the column, and on manual shift cars somewhere under the key/tumbler on the column there will be a little lock lever or button you have to push to turn it full "off", so your kid couldn't reach over, turn your car off while you were driving, and lock the steering wheel sending you off a cliff, so don't get frustrated when the damthing won't turn the key all the way back like normal. It's a stick, so no need for the key to put it in neutral. Brakes shouldn't be stuck, should have 4 wheel discs.

Looks like a good scrubbing, an oil change, and a fresh battery and I'd personally give it the old college try. Good luck, buddy! Keep us posted :)

10-4! My 2000 silverado had pump problems and I rigged up a rail pressure gage. Had a stuck fuel return valve (regulator?) one time and DOA pumps others. It was a Canadian truck and the fuel pressure needed higher PSI to give a start/run signal by like 5 lbs.

We'll see how far we get. I have a Model T Dorf valve job for a pal ahead of this. Been promising him that for 2 years; its due! ws

After almost 10 years, Pat SWORE she had no interest in learning(!) or driving a stick shift car. Now she wants this thing and lessons on driving a FIVE SPEED. "Maybe we can sell the BUICK?" Ive created a Dorf monster Ayeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...

So the story played out OK today, just had to move 5 tons of "crap" thats destined for the "craft room" including 4 bags of sacrete that got wet 10 years ago. The deal was $200 but there was another $300 in labor. Rolled the Turdbird outa the barn and had a flat bed at the ready. $50 for the hook up and $5.00 a mile home. Total was $65. Got to watch the BADGER ferry come in. Sandy is sitting in a poor dilapidated house with a million dollar view...

Got the 'bird home and was gonna wash it ( a cursory wash) and was gonna stuff towels in the open windows. What the heck... I hooked up a 50 amp charger and the windows went right up, the fuel pump ran, and all the stuff livened up on the dash. This was all from the passenger seat. The drivers door is locked and stuck so the panel needs to come off with the door closed. ANY ADVICE?????

Washed the bomber and a quick rinse just to assess the body. One lousy spot of rust where something fell and chipped the paint. Theres a parking lot ding on the front bumper passenger side and need some advice or wit on the best, easiest repair approach. With minor other stuff and a light keying job on both sides, this thing may warrant a quickie paint job; maybe ad a spoiler. Still intend on flipping for that GM power thing. Hmmm.

Sorry about the dorfing guys, but face it, we are all in this together, and this one will get me through until they straighten out I-95 LOL... ws
