At the Nationals, I got one of CARS,rear spoilers. Looks nice. But when you set it on the deck lid the curve on the bottom of the spoiler mounts dont match the deck lid curve. So there is a gap on each side. Between deck lid and spoiler mounts. WTH... You would think it would be ready out the box. Anyone see this before.
Yeah, but mine was from The Parts Place. And it was cracked BEFORE they primed it. And the hardware and gaskets were incorrect. And TPP wanted me to pay freight technically THREE times (original, return, replacement...) for THEIR fault. That was the First and LAST thing I bought From TPP.
Ok. I guess theres no easy fix. I'll call and see about sending it back. Anyone make one that fits correct?
Surely there was a way you could have dropped it on the trunklid of one of the race cars there to check fit. It won't be cheap to send back......how bad is the gap...a good body man could probably make it work.....where you at? I got a shop that could fix that.....central Indiana..... Peace WildBill
This was a spoiler from TPP on my GSX drag car. I was pleasantly surprised that it fit nearly perfect right out of the box. This goes back to around 2005(?) so maybe they changed manufacturers since then or the molds are worn? Or maybe who ever makes them just doesn't take pride any more and doesn't care about quality? Who knows, but I must say that back then mine fit nearly perfect.
Bill, I opened the box there. It looked ok. My car was right there. Never thought it would have problems. I thought coming from CARS, the buick guys. It would be the best aftermarket out. Yes I guess the mounting area could be reshaped. Some close up pics of someone elses at the exact mounting area would help. I live in Biloxi MS. very far from you. If someone can send pics of exactly where it sits and where the sides meet the quarter it would help if I cant get it straight with CARS.
Their website says 250 I think. I bought a bunch of crap. So they knocked some cash off. I do like the repo tail lights. Mine had cracked reverse lenses.. should of saved my money for roller rockers. Ide rather race in may. Lol. I'll work it out. Any mounting location pics from anyone appreciated.
I got one from TPP, about $250 if I remember right. It didn't fit deck lid very well at all. I had to sand the bases to get the contour correct. A little 80 grit and a lot of patience did the trick. Had a few waves also, but I took those out with some skim coat. Fits like a glove now. Hope the picture helps.
Great job. If ya get time. Could you take close up pics of where it bolts too deck lid and where it meets the quarters. I want to try to place it where you did. Exactly. Thanks...
Tried to get a couple pictures, hope they help. Kind of hard to see exactly where they sit. The ridge on the trunk should fit into the apex in the mounts. Car needs washing now that I look at the pictures.
I had the same problem, started a th thread on it. http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/rear-spoiler.341410/
Unfortunately CARS's parts are junk and i mean like everything. I think i have send them more than thousand bucks and all of it ended it the bin. For instance front upper bushings lasted about 500 miles, driveshaft support didnt last even 100 miles, bearing was to narrow it didn't even fit well inside support so i had to make spacers for a bearinf so it would fit. It still managed to turn the bearing around shaft and ruin it. Gaskets for parking and rear lights are a joke, they are like 1/32" thickness and should be 1/4". It just looks like they're using the cheapest stuff they can find. Imo they aren't Buick guys but rather gold diggers... Once they got your cash you are on your own. Sorry for the rant. Peace, Kacper.
Kacper—if you use the search key, you will find several long threads complaining about CARs, and in particular, their return of purchase policy. You will also find many threads about The Parts Place Inc. making reproduction Buick items that are not the same specifications as OEM.
I've stated this a few times before, so it's all I'll say: I've had a 3 million times better experience with CARS than OPGI..... I know that's not always the case, but no comparison for me.
I never purchase from OPGI. They are ridiculously expensive and their shipping and handling charge is "wait until we decide how much we need to balance our books this month." They never tell you shipping cost, then they tack on a "handling" charge. Got to pay for all those glossy magazines and pretty models somehow.
