I think the builder was sorta missing the boat. :laugh:
With that paint job on it there should be a 455 in that hull!

 

If someone could make a Buick engine stand up to an hour of 4500 RPM running, then I would go for it. These "marine" engines are very meaty and can take lots of abuse.:Brow:

 

Crabbers on the Eastern Shore of Maryland use 455 Buicks in their 40' wood crab boats and rack up 10000 hours just like a diesel and the runum! Don't forget the torque is there so the high rpm is not necessary even in a drag boat , you put more pitch in the prop.
