Call it a truck not a car. The C-car is what I drive if a GM or an old Mopar (they brought the letter back for a bit in the 90's too), and the K-car is the chrysler fwd cars from the 80's that fall apart when you start them.

The Cheyenne will also be known as a Silverado if it was fully loaded. That means when you need parts look it up as a Silverado for that year and you'll have better luck. Some places don't list the Cheyenne even if they have all the parts to build one.

I had a '96 Cheyenne 5 speed for about 12 years. Blew the engine and that was it. Got to the point I hated standard shift. Sold it for $500 just to get rid of it.

Looks to be a 4.3L V6 & 5-speed...you won't get anywhere in a hurry, but it's a tough little setup. We have an '89 1500 4.3L but automatic truck that has like 300k+ miles or so on it...it's gonna end up rusting down around itself before the drivetrain quits if I had to guess, and the rust is off to a running start!

These are tough trucks. I just picked up a 95 K2500 with 50K miles with a 454/auto for about 9K. Love it so far.

My father has a '90 model with the TBI 5.7. He had over 330k miles on it before we rebuilt the engine. He will never get rid of that truck. Now that we've rebuilt it, he says it's good for another 20 years.

Sounds like this type of Truck is worth to save.
I bought a new Gas tank, and ordered new front fenders, fuel sender, repair plate to the door and rear fenders.
Under it was rust like an old Shipp.
The floor in the shop was like an gravel road, after we have tapp the car.
Luky me, one of my daughters hade time to help me.
This tools come handy. Goran :)

I have an '89 Cheyenne 3/4 ton with a 5.7L tbi, and a TH400 tranny with a little over a 120K kms that is still running strong - the body will give out long before the engine and tranny do !! Only major problems, so far, were a blown right hand head gasket that was replaced, and the tbi unit was replaced with a 305ci unit, along with an EGR valve that had rusted out from old age. All the brake and fuel lines have also been replaced and it is currently on it's 4th OEM exhaust sysrem !! :TU:
