It is a shame that the Chicago Amphitheater is not around anymore. We wouldn't have to worry about the weather when you have indoor drag racing.

Yah, all you would have to worry about is the concrete pillars..... that and getting your car stopped before going out the overhead door.

Wasn't it an odd length, like 1/10 mile, or 1/16 mile, or something wacky like that?:Do No:

Rob, supposedly the race track was 440 feet long, with the shutdown area going through a pair of doors out into the parking lot. More of the story and some pictures are here.

The Ampitheater part is about 3/4's way down the page. I had some nutty friends that were among the hardcore racers that ran there. :Dou:

Well, if the weather holds out we are in. Still saying 20% chance in the afternoon. Got the tank down and the sock was brittle and coming apart, not sure it could have flowed a lot of fuel through it. Already changed the fuel pump and hoses and the carb is re-jetted to a more reasonable level. Shouldn't have any fuel issues now.

Morocco, IN is looking pretty good. If it stays dry out there today, and tomorrow morning, we should have a good shot. They are pushing the rain out later. We are planning on going as long as it isn't raining in the morning.

yes, lets all try and park together. Depending on who gets there first lets try and mark off a section for us.

I've been watching the weather too and unless it's raining tomorrow morning I plan on being there. Will load up and head out at roughly 10:30am. Should get there say noon or 12:30.

I also just took a quick drive in the W-31. all systems are still good to go. :beer

Great day, weather in the 60's but a nice 15mph headwind :af: . Thought we had our fuel issue handled....wrong. Track was good, ran several 1.8x 60 ft's with the '71 GTO but only ran in the 12.70's again with MPH in the 104-5 area.

    The beer was tasty though....:beer

It was great meeting some of you guys from the board also !!!

Nice day for sure. We didn't get as many runs as we would have liked to since they changed up the schedule and added the street car chaos event into the mix today. The upside to this was lots of great racing to watch while waiting for our turns.

Ran a new best ET of 13.84, slightly better than Stanton. We had a lower top MPH with the strong headwind but this track really hooks up at launch! After a few runs, I just started hammering it at the line with no wheelspin! We are looking forward to a springtime return trip to US 41 for a regular test and tune day there. With great traction and better wind conditions there's at least another tenth in it!

yes, except for that head wind and all the extra cars from the street chaos it was a great time. right off the trailer a new best ET. Then bettered it the next two times. Fourth and last run was against Kevin and the munson-mobile. Bad burnout, bad 60ft and worst et of the day. But still just enough to hold off the munson-mobile. We were fender to fender the entire length of the track. I make the turn on the return road and the GEN light comes on  goes off before I get me time slip, then right back on and stayed on as I quickly put it in the trailer. Unloaded the car, put it in the garage and the GEN light is now off. :Do No: Belt slipping? don't know, but all in all a great time. Felt real good to beat on the W-31 again as she's been dormant for the better part of two years.

the sc/rambler got a PB of 14.37... without the wind it would have been a real sweet number. MPH was down about 2 from where it ran at Stanton, the 60 foot was great at a 2.18 (tenth better than Stanton... without the wind we probably would have seen a 14.27).

My pos somehow gained 1.5 seconds and lost 10 mph from running last month out there. I think I have an ignition module randomly dropping spark (a nice new Delco unit with 350 miles on it). feel like I've been beating my head against a wall all day. sorry I didn't get a chance to meet and talk to more of you guys... spent most of the afternoon under the hood.

So Luke, when are you going to get a 403 in that car and go have some fun? You don't have to spend a lot building one, do a "Black Sheep" job on it. (junkyard motor)....you can always upgrade later.

I have a complete running 433 for it, from Milan. Just awaiting installation. :TU: Need to buy the BBO headers and 3" x-pipe, fab the front accessory brackets. It'll move good. Was hoping to get a 14.0 from this one with a little tuning before I yanked it... it's close.
