Sorry guys those are just some pictures of my familys cars from 4th of july, 1 is a 70 gs 455, 72 stage 1 and my gold x. The 69 is in storage at my hanger. I plan on getting some photos soon and will post as soon as able. It is no cherry needing a total resto but engine and tranny and 2.93 posi are all there as a matter of fact I don't think the engine has been out still has original heater hoses and clamps.

Brian, get your name on the signature,it's easier to talk to each other,we are a friendly bunch here.

It will be really neat if you can document the car as one of the six that were supposed to be given away. Are you going to restore it?I would be looking forward for the pics, prod the kid a little:grin: .Welcome to the V8 board!

Well, after 7 years from the original post, we know:
    1) There were supposedly 6 GS Sport Coupes given away by Coca Cola or their representative(s).
    2) The Pit Stop movie of interest was released in 1969 or so. It was not very good.
    3) We have heard about one vehicle that may be 1 of 6.
    4) That connect has gone cold
    5) I spoke with Coca Cola advertising, but they were no help.

I vaguely remember speaking with a woman at the Sloan museum. That was a dead end too. If the vehicles were never titled to Coca Cola, Sloan may not have a record. Does anyone think that all six vehicles were delivered through the same dealership? Someone would have had to perform the pre-delivery checks and a dealer would be logical. I expect the dealerships would complain, if they were denied a dealership routine income . That could narrow the search criteria.

If there is a chance, I will again try the Sloan route.

Is there a chance of reconnecting with the member that knows of the one vehicle?

A last thought: could Peterson Publications be of any help? If they ran the original ad, perhaps they followed up on the actual give-a-ways. ??

I'm not ready to give up.

Would seem like the best bet is for Sloan to search for 6 identically equipped cars, possibly even with sequential VIN's. :Do No:

I sent Brian a PM to see if he could help.

However, in the mean time, I will call Sloan and see what happens.

except I thought Sloan (or anyone else) doesn't have VIN documentation on 69's

I was thinking the same about the Sloan information, nothing for a '69:

Well, back to square one. Brian may be our only hope, at least for the 1 of 6.

I have not yet received a response from him. Does anyone know Brian personally?

I remember seeing a car for sale on the internet a few years ago and it had an interior that looked stock but had red inserts in the black seats plus a few other differences and the first thing that came to mind was that it was a Coke A Cola car. I have a print off of that add somewhere and I have that advertisement of the contest which I bought a copy about 30 years ago as well.

Coke may have ordered 6 standard GS's potentially painted red with a white or black vinyl top, white interior and then sent them to a shop to have them customized with the coke items (decals, interior mods, etc). I doubt GM had anything to do with the additional Coke items. For this reason I highly doubt there would be any special GM records. The Sloan info shows that there were only 61 SCO paint 1969 GS400 coupes built and many of them may have been the early "fireglow" paint cars before the paint was officially released in the Spring of '69.

I'd say you would be right Mike. It would be more than likely a '' Coke'' think. Probably the only insite would be from someone directly involved with Coke , an advertising person or one of the original owners of the cars. The winners may have not even been Buick fans as we are so that might be a tough one to pursue. Maybe there could be a news article in some archives somewhere.

I have a few questions, the answers to which may help track them down. If this was a 'Coke' thing, would they have ordered all six at once, and if so, would they have all come to the same (probably Atlanta) dealer? Maybe some of the Atlanta folk would remember. If it was a Petersen thing, same question, but Los Angeles? If it was an ad agency, what about New York? Or, would the winner been directed to his nearby dealer to order or wait for delivery of his new car? Were all six cars already built, and if so were they stored in Flint, Atlanta, or at Buick's zone offices? Or could the cars have been built after the winners were announced at whatever plant was closest to them? Sorry guys, no answers, just what I hope are useful questions.

I would think it all depends on what type of "Coke" modifications were made to the car. If it was just a stock GS with a sticker package and other items that could be put on at the dealer they may have just shipped the car from one of the nearest GM factories and then mailed the "coke" package. Any major mods would not have been done at the GM Factory and may have been done by one outside shop and then shipped to the winners location.

    All just theories:Do No:

It seems at this point, Brian is out best hope to document what one of these cars really looked like. It seems doubtful we will find any others.

How do we track down Brian?????
