Mothers makes a convertible top cleaner. Spray it on and use a soft brush to gently clean it then rinse it off. This works very well. As far as protectants go there are some products out there that are safe to use on a vert top if the top is of the vinyl variety. I think you want to stay away from protectants with silicon in them, they can discolor or be harmful to the top.

I've never tried Mothers How does it work? I've always used some spray that foams up, then you wipe it off. Works great on the interior, and a good job on the top. The problem I have is my top color is light tan, and really shows the dirt. Then again, I'm considering a black top (so I could paint GSX stripes). I have plenty of time to make up my mind...
