My parents bought an old house with an unfinished basement. When we moved our junk down there we found old news papers from WWII, old maps of Canada and the provinces as well as hand painted WWII plane pictures with their engine size, horse power, air speed etc. It was extremely cool for a 10 year old to sort thru all the military facts and wartime propaganda. My parents framed two of the maps. I will post a pic when I get home

While mowing the lawn , I kept kickin at this "stump/rock" 2018-09-23 11.45.35.jpg cuz it was dangerously close to blade height. Finally said to myself, dig it out ya lazy sob.
So I dig, and dig some more, til I pull this outta the ground.

Turns out the little shack next to the property was the town garage/ gas station, complete with brass pump in an adjacent lil building that everyone probably assumed was an outhouse.
Lotsa stuff buried, pulled a front axle for a Model T outta the ground as well. Jim

About 15+ years ago I owned a two-family home here in MA. My neighbor and I were always doing projects on the house. One day he calls me and says -- "hey don't be alarmed but the police are on the way over"... He was up insulating the attic and removed a floorboard to lay down some batting. He discovered some playboys, a handgun and a grenade. He decided the grenade was pretty heavy and was not sure what to do with it?? The police inspected the grenade and decided -- yes that certainly looks real. The Playboys helped date the stash from the late 60s... Next comes the bomb squad with steel box and a dump truck full of sand... All our neighbors had to leave their houses until the grenade was removed. It was quite a spectacle. I guess the squad was a tad worried about the age of the grenade and the stability of the firing pin. Turns out a previous owner's son had served in Vietnam and had struggled a bit after his service. Considering all the rehab we did -- I'm just glad my neighbor wasn't ripping down the plaster and had that little surprise drop from the ceiling...
