Hi to my Buick Brothers, hopefully someone can give some info on this problem. I have a 73 Buick Century Gran Sport (350) with a bad coolant leak. 6 months after the motor was rebuilt, i noticed white smoke coming from the hose that attaches to the air cleaner. I opened the oil cap and inside the valve cover was coolant milkshake. My friend is working on the car and he thinks its coming from the timing cover. I had a new one installed when the engine was rebuilt so is it a defective cover? I also checked the intake manifold and its not leaking from there. Is it somethin else? thanks.

First thing to do is a compression check. Could be a head gasket.

then, do a pressure test on the cooling system . You should be able to hear / see the leak.

Drain the oil and see if its all milkshake. You can get the cap to look that way from condensation. Check the actual oil. I would think intake gasket or upside down head gasket is the issue.
