My GS had the G60-15 "billboard" tires and chrome rallye wheel option. I have always felt (however misplaced) that white letter tires look perfect on any GS. there is a visual excitment there even when idling past....

Anyway, I may need some new tires soon, obviously the solid white letter tire is not that common, and the ones I have found I don't like the tread design except for Cooper tire.

Does anyone have any experience whit Cooper tires, good, bad, or ugly??

Would be looking ta 235/60 to 255/60-15....

    thanks
    Tim

Having seen many a set of tire in my days, I would say that they would not be my first choice.

Not real bad, not real good. But I am not going to say that I have reviewed the entire line, or the ones you may want to use.

I have done a couple cars with the Radial TA's, a fresh set is going on the GSX in the shop, and I have had good results.

They have a full white letter.

    Hi Guys,

Steve.......is the pic of your car (might I say a nice looking one!) recent? I ask because the rear is "drooping"....sits low. You may want to look into some rear springs as it appears your's may be fatigued and weak. Are they the originals? What about the lower control arms, are they boxed? If not they can flex and that will contribute to wheel hop. OPG sells a boxing kit for both lowers for around $20. Also the addition of rear air bags will help tremendously for pre-load and help with that wheel hop and slow 60' times problem.:D

I myself haven't owned cooper tires however...I know a guy,
He had them twice and had blow outs twice.
    Genuine Maypops.

It's a hard hit but I always lean towards Michelin tires.
they have lasted the longest over every other tire IMO.
BFG's are high on the list as well.

Before you get those new rubber shoes, may I suggest :3gears:

I've been selling cooper tires for about 20 years. Had real good luck with them.
Goodyear are good tires too, also firestones look good. all with the solid rwl.
I can get any brand, but I sell mostly coopers.

I run Cooper Cobra 245-60-15 all around on 15x8's. Decent ride and grip qualities and priced right - right around $400/set installed. No problems here but then again, FL roads are pretty decent year round and my ragtop only sees about 3-4k miles per year.

I think they're a great RWL alternative to the much pricier BFG Radial TA's, especially for a car that won't see major miles per year. .

Tires deteriorate regardless of use so regardless of brand, you're probably looking at a 5-year safe lifespan. All else considered essentially equal, saving $$ tipped the scale for me against the BFG's.

I put Cooper Cobras on most everything just bought a set the other day for my regal, 15in tires are getting more and more scarce, the cobras still have a full line from 215 all the way to 295's

I wish Goodyear would bring back their old Eagle ST that is the classic muscle car radial

Love Cooper tires, I put them every vehicle I've owned. I put a set of CS4 Tourings on my wife's '04 Bonneville and we got 101K miles out of them. Guess what I put back on that car! I've got Cooper Cobras on the GS as well, white letters out.

Best part? This thread is from 2002 and was resurrected yesterday!

I've had Cooper a/t's on 3 different trucks and they were all awesome. They recently stopped making that particular model or they'd be going on my new truck. Haven't had the cobras on anything, but I do see a fair amount of them (for whatever that's worth).

I run Coopers on everything, Cobras on all of my old stuff and touring tires on the newer cars. Never had any trouble, they ride great, look awesome and hold up pretty well. Bang for the buck they're hard to beat.

I just bought a set of the Cooper Cobras for sons 72 GS. Wanted BFGs, but the price difference is just way too much.
    235/60/15 for the front, on a 6" X 15" Centerline Convo Pros.
295/50/15 for the rear, on 8.5" X 15" Centerline Convo Pros.

I am worried about the clearance on the rear tires, as the rear rims have 5" of backspacing...hoping they clear:pray:

The picture below....is that of the 295 on an 8" rim? Doesn't look to be too bad of a sidewall bulge...

    That is a 15x8 rim
    I like the look.

With my 245s on front also with 15x8 rims there's not enough bulge for me so Ive been keeping my eye out for 2 very nice 15x7 rims.

how about 235-60s all around with 15x8 Buick ralleys all around? Too much bulge or not enough? Always rwl out with cooper tires. Now I need to find 2 more priseen 15x8s. Ken
