Yes that pic of the clips from my ragtop has the color off slightly.

    A) Fuel line clips were a zinc yellow primer, I simply painted them yellow. Zinc yellow primer looks like crap but is correct (take that resto people  !).

    D) The emission line clips on my car were a anodized blue, as was the one fuel line clip at the back crossmember where the long front to back line goes (there are two in the pic, easy to ID as they have the tab sticking out fo the backside, right above your "C")

The three to the RH side of the D are the small brake line clips. The small brake line (3/16") ones were an anodized green. Not sure why they look blue in the picture, just the flash I guess.

    B) The silver ones were silver zinc plated. Originals were just rust so figured natural metal from what i could see where they bolted on and the "color" survived.

Hope that helps. Figured I better help clear that up since it is on my website. I should have mentioned the colors maybe, I did say not to base your car on mine, as they were all different.

Oh yeah, why buy repro tranny to frame clips when GM sells them new for like 1.70 each? PN 1383297.

I went more for the "make it look nice" vs "make it look original" since original looks crappy. Before anyone bitches about that, not a single real gs ever had base clear either...

I talked to Kryta himself, the owner. You will get nowhere with him. I sent pictures of my original pieces and got no response from them.

Take out the fuel and brake lines first by slightly bending loops out but be carefull as they can break if rusty. Then use socket to take out screw. 1/2" I think. The clip can then be pulled straight out with some force as it has clip that pushes in frame. And yes these were yellow at least on 70-72.

I think there are tabs that hold it in the frame so it doesnt come off,how can i get to these tabs bend them so the clip comes off the frame thats the tricky part??

    Thanks

Yes there is a pressure tab in the back that fits in hole in frame. Just wiggle and PULL them out!

Take my advice, restore your old clips by sandblasting them then paint, no one sell the clips that are are exactly for the Buicks, I already did the search on the site and learned a lot! If you break any clips then ask some hear if anyone has them, I only broke one clip and a board member sent me a complete set for $6!

The color for the S clips are rust. Actually I think the ones on the fule lines were black. I will try and dig mine out in the next few days and see if I can see color. The one on the brake lines under the booster was yellow but fuel line was different I think.

Guys, help me understand your thinking. Is everyone posting here building a concours car? The reason I ask is I'm almost at this point and before this thread started I would have been content with the clips as they came from the aftermarket. I'm building a very nice, but not concours car. Frame off, non numbers matching but real bb gs. My intentions for the car are local car shows and crusie ins, an ocasional trip down the strip and maybe the non-concours classes at the nationals. Should I be worried about things like this to the detail described in this thread?

If you're not worried about such minute details, then you shouldn't worry about such minute details. Your family and friends will disown you when you tell them how many hours you spent tracking down the right clamps, or how much money you spend replating the originals.

As for me, I don't have any friends anyways, so I think I'll head to the garage and start obsessing about paint daubs again .....

Its not the clamps that your wife will throw you out for as they only cost a few bucks. It is the three $4000 engine rebuilds that engine builders screw up that do you in! I know:Do No:
