I'm getting close to having the car painted. I'm really confused on a color. Doing a GSX clone.
I had a swatch made from my paint guy of cortez gold with larger metallic flakes in it. What do you think? Is it too much?

    Another

Here is another ...it looks soooo much better in person. I think that the Cortez Gold color would be a good choice!
Good luck with the paint job!

    Tom,
    Find Marco's Stage 1 Registry........it's linked from this site.......somewhere.
Look for the '71 cars. You will find a stunning '71 Stage 1 ragtop in Cortez Gold & a white top. Very nice colour.

Jamie,Scott, and Steve, thanks for your input. It means alot to me.Those cars are stunning, and I've seen Marks also which is super nice. Those are expensive resto's and mine will never look as good, but if it looks half as good I'll be happy. The guys at the shop are cool and I sense they are not high on the cortez gold, but would never say anything because everybody's got different taste in color. When I mentioned a Fire Red their eye's lit up though. They told me solid colors polish up much nicer than metallics, and heavy metallics tend to blotch up.I'm kinda stuck on the cortez gold.Do you think I should stay with it without the heavy metallic flakes?

If it was mine I would stick with the actual formula and not change the metallic size.
What kind of paint are they spraying it with ?
We use R-M b/c in our shop and rarely have problems with a coarse metallic color getting blotchy.

That's real nice Joe.I have to do cortez gold.I'm just debating with the extra large metallic flakes. What to do? Is yours done any differently?

OMG what happened there Jamie, wind storm?Mine went down after the second week it was up on a windy day.Thank God I had the car cover on or it would have been scratched up for sure. After that I bought 16" stakes and secured all the polls on 2x6's with 12x12" concrete stones on them for added weight.I also duct taped all the poles where they join so they stay together. So far so good. Thanks for the compliments, and good luck.Tom.
