    Any timing light can read total timing. You need 2 things. One, you need the lightest springs you can lay your hands on, and two, you need to use the proper method for the type of light you have. A dial back light can do it directly, a standard timing light requires you to make a second mark on your harmonic balancer, 1.75" = 30*, 2" = 34*

    I just spoke with Bruno; my appointment with him is at 10am tomorrow.

    He's going to set my total timing to 34-degrees again.

    Your mechanical timing has been locked out. You are running straight timing. Adjusting your timing to 34* could not be easier. You don't even have to rev the engine.

    With a dial back light, turn the dial to 34*. Disconnect and plug the vacuum advance (if used). Point the light at the timing tab and turn the distributor until the balancer mark lines up with the 0 mark on the timing tab.

    With a conventional timing light, you make a 34* mark on the balancer by measuring EXACTLY 2" clockwise (looking from the front of the car), and making a second mark. Then point the light at the timing tab and line your second mark up with the 0 on the timing tab.

    :3gears: When I took off from in front of Bruno's by shocking the tires ... my brother and I ALMOST KILLED OURSELVES because my Buick refused to stop the sideways fishtailing ... even when I came out of it!
    My Buick NEVER has run this hard before.

    Bruno and Larry "The Wizard" are true KINGS.

    Mr. Bruno-D and Mr. Larry "The Wizard" are the reason my Buick 455 Regal-T sounds & runs "correctly." :TU::TU:
    I am VERY fortunate to have met those two gentlemen.
    For weeks, my engine temp on the hottest and most humid days has been 186-degrees.

    Today, I finally purchase a Stant 16lb rated radiator cap ... that The Wizard spotted right away and suggested that I change it over one month ago.

    In closing, I give ADAMANT thanks to every single member on this site that took the time to help me regarding my Buick ...from day one until present time. :TU::TU:

    Next ... wheel alignment ... then ENGLISHTOWN with my buddy-tranny-builder Tyrone Taylor sometime in September of this year, God's Will.

    I "predict" mid-to-high 12's my 1 run down the 1320.

    Have a great week, everyone.

    ... had to visit Meineke over 5-years later today;

    Tomorrow, I'm swapping out the unreliable Holley FP Regulator to the one I initially wanted, but could not afford at the time.
    Also, the ARP carburetor stud kit I got from Auto Zone today is the wrong (too short and small) size; exchanging those tomorrow BEFORE the FPR swap.
