Sad day. Great write-up in Hemmings.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Legendary. Not many drivers/owners left from back when Stock Car Racing used stock bodied cars.

Truly one of the greatest ever. Dan won in just about every genre in which he competed, and often in his own-design cars. A true American hero. He will be missed.

While others were known for 1 area of Motorsports, Gurney was a Master on Many levels. Driver, Developer, Builder & Innovator.
I believe it was Car & Driver that put together a "Campaign" to run Gurney for President back in 63 for the upcoming election in 64.
Do to his height, a modification had to be made to the Ford GTs, for him to fit. The Gurney Bubble, that can be seen in the top of the Door of the MK4 in the pic.
We have lost a Great Man.
