I had an ‘88 Cavalier Z24 convertible. I bought it from a neighbor for $700, drove it and enjoyed the heck out of it, then sold it for more money, but kinda wish I still had it. Patrick
I had a X-11 Citation that the inner and outer hood came un-glued.....it would "flutter" at highway speeds until i had it fixed. I also had a black fastback Type-10 Cavalier with a stick....that car was fun to drive...and i loved that all the gauges, controls and radio had RED readouts or lighting...... Peace WildBill
My buddy at school had a white one like that. For our final chassis fab project, we put a 350/Th350 and fabbed a 4 link with a 9" Ford for the rear. Finding and marking the factory centerline of the rear wheel openings was really easy with those wheels. Just took a carpenter's square from the flat floor and turned the rear wheels until it bisected the square center cap at the angles, put a mark on the wheel lip, and voila'. Easiest bit of geometry I ever had to figure out.
Wow! I thought about a 3800 swap (had access to an ‘89 Olds 98), even squinted at a rwd conversion, but decided doing nothing but add oil and drive was the best plan. Patrick
Berettas were referred to as Regrettas by most of the guys I know. I have owned quite a few Chevettes, Cavaliers, Citations and a couple Berettas. The last one was an '87 Cavalier RS that I had for 9 years and a lot of miles. Great car until it was totaled in an accident with a horse.
My first car was a 5spd Pontiac firefly, little 3 banger hatch back. I also had the Cavaliers and chevettes along the way too, they were still a common car on the road when I was a teen.
Was it you or the horse that was in the wrong place? It sounds like an interesting story either way! Patrick
Patrick, it was 1am, on my way home. Horse ran head-on into my car. Check the thread "Your Near Death Experience" I posted the complete gory story.
My friend's dad had a red 4 speed 77 or 78 (forget the year) Monza that he drove us to school in every day. The one thing I remember about that car is it ALWAYS stalled before we got out of the driveway. Apparently it didn't like to run in weather under 50 degrees without being warmed up for 15 minutes first. But I did think it was a cool car.
