This just cropped up last week when I had been running the engine to adjust the timing. When I finished, the car didn't turn off (ignition in off position, key out.) I unplugged the alternator and battery to get the engine to quit. Now, with the battery connected and no key in the ignition (it is in the off position), the Gen and Oil dash lights are on (kind of like it's in the accessory position.)

I thought it might be the ignition switch itself on top of the steering column, so I replaced it, but that didn't change anything.

Anyone have a new direction to suggest?

Look at the wires near the starter. Yellow wire runs to the dist. may be shorted against the main power feed keeping the car running. Only ting I can think of off the top of my head
