    Wow, that's too bad. He was a living legend of stock car racing right up there with Ned Jarret and the golden boy Fred Lorenzen

    Richard Petty said of Pearson ‘He could beat you on a short track, he could beat you on a super speedway, he could beat you on a road course, he could beat you on a short track. It didn’t hurt as much to lose to Pearson as it did some others because I knew how good he was.’

    I went to Cotton Owen's one day and he told me all kinds of stories about David, I never got to meet him, seen him several times at "The Peach Blossom " restaurant him and Bud Moore. Lot of Nascar history here in ole Spartanburg

    As a kid watching races in TV he was always in the hunt and often winning back when they used real cars.
