Yo Steve ..... Can you take a look at a 71 340 Duster for me ??? It's in your neck of the woods ..... :Brow:
Mce It's a good mag but I wish they would fill it up a bit more. The stuff for sale in the back isn't a favorite of mine. :bglasses: More performance articles and a some Pure Stock Dynoing(stock cam and manifolds) is always of big interest. I wish they would get back to a mag that was like the Musclecar review of old. It was very close to being right on. I understood that the only reason that it disappeared was because of Petersen pubishing being sold and no compatition in the market. All of a sudden the guys do their own thing and MCR is back to screw it up with quarterly issues and just general articles that have little substance. Jim
Mce I stand corrected. It is a good issue with all the stuff I like. The only problem about the publication is I don't have a 5.13 gear in my car. A good issue non the less. Jim :TU:
I hate to say it....but when I spoke to Dan about the repop block....it was frowned upon. I was told not to use it. So I'm not............FAST might have a different outlook though. o No:
I haven't received the Dec issue yet, but I assume you are talking about the Dove FE block? It probably won't be legal in FAST either, since it is an aftermarket block. Only OEM blocks are allowed. Now if Ford would put their name on it an sell it through their dealers so it was OEM like they ought to, then it would be considered. The 427 Ford has got to be one of the toughest blocks to get ahold of a good one, it would be nice to see Ford step up to the plate like GM and Mopar have done . Edit: You could use a 428 block and dress it out as a 427 in a 427 car, since FAST does not check casting numbers on blocks. But you would loose a few cubes from the smaller bore.
Joel: The block is from "Genesis Co." here's a quick synopsis of the article: "Weber manufacturing purchased controlling interest in Genesis about 1-1/2 yrs ago, Weber had done automation systems for Ford, and is a certified tier III supplier for Ford. The new blocks will be offered in the upcoming FORD RACING PARTS CATALOG." Also, "Our block looked authentic enough that both Ford liked it and the NHRA accepted it." Blocks are issued with original Ford casting #'s too! Sounds like an acceptable replacement to me. Read the article. Steve
I just received my new issue :TU: MAN!!! That's one sweet H/O you got there Rusty .....................and Dave H...............when did you get the 69 W-31? Got another car and you didn't brag about it :af: (must have been a typo)
Now this is an interesting twist. Greg G- think you can do your thing on stock small block manifolds (intake and exhaust) that would support 8500 RPM?   Erwin: Definitely a typo. Everyone knows there weren't any 69 Ramrods (even if the air cleaner decal idiots put stickers on them that said there were. Then there's this one:
