Decklid question???

My bodyman showed me something I hadn't noticed before and was hoping someone could help me. On the decklid of my 69 GS, on the underside rear (towards the rear windshield), there are 3 small indentations. Each is about 9" apart from the one prior or after it. The puzzling thing is the paint hasn't been chipped or cracked like you would expect from something denting it :puzzled: And the spacing is so precise. Does anybody have, or can they get a detailed pic of the underside of their decklid in the area I am referring to so I can see if this is a factory thing or if this indeed needs to be fixed. I really appreciate any input. :beer

Looks like a slow day for us 68/69 guys! Rick, I have my car back in about 10 days, can help then with pics, but I sure hope you don't have to wait that long. It sounds factory to me, but I don't recall if they are on my car or not.

Thanks for getting back with me, David. You're right, not many views and even less responses  . I told him I would check over the weekend and let him know early in the week. I'll see if I can stall, but he is slowly running out of stuff to keep his other guy busy. He tries to only work 1 or 2 vehicles at a time. I'm thinking factory, but I'm starting to second guess myself the more I look at it. I see no reason why it would be that way. Thanks and maybe more people will chime in and help soon. :beer

If the weather was as nice elsewhere as we had today, it's no wonder there's been no other replies, everyone's been outside all day. Mid-50's and sunny, with more to come for a couple more days. Man, I love spring!

Thanks Kevin. It is the raised area of the underside of the decklid, about 2" in from the outside edge. The area in question runs the width of the lid. In this area, are three (3) small indentations, each about the size of a nickle. Man, I wish I could shoot a pic, but with it being Easter Sunday, the boss would kill me

I thought I had a pic somewhere. Here it is. The more I look at it, I can't see it being correct. I'm sure it needs fixed. The lower raised area, you can see two (2) of the indentations i'm referring to.

Give you a real simple answer. Sometime in the last 36 years someone put something BIG in the trunk and tied the lid down (loosely) without putting a mat on the object.
Drove the thing home with the trunk lid bouncing up and down on the object.........voila..........dents. :Dou:

    Just my 2 cents,
    Mark

To add more to the poll. I just checked the lid on my car and the spare, neither have those dents.
