Direct from Doctor Pat, from the "she who must be obeyed" department, ordered me to take a few days off. I have complied and am now ready to go either bonkers, or AWOL. Hahaha. We are taking off for a big boat trip in a few weeks and with only a few minor things to attend to, the boat is almost ready. That gave me some time today to go out junking with my pal Jeff (a Model T guy). Right now he's chasing down a barn find (as in rusted down to the hubs on a dirt barn floor) 1939 VL Harley. That's an 80 cubic inch flat head with 3F's and a reverse for a side car. He needs to make an offer on the estate of a family friend. We'll see where that goes..

So we are rolling out in the country and crest a hill, and whats staring at me??? LUKE! Whatcha think?? Looks like it needs a motor (nice LS5 project?). Should I make that call??? At a glance, whats the $$$ factor? I didn't see the other side or the inside, but always liked these guys.

Personally I am afraid of getting bored next winter already LOL... ws

First of all, where's Guy on the ski doo comment?!?! Haha.....
Bill that's a cool find! Everybody likes '65s :). If you're going to leave it crusty, it'd be a sweet project. If you wanna put gobs of time and money in making it super nice, they're a major project. Akin to a classic Cadillac complexity, and one year only weirdness. But super cool, if I do say so myself.....
If the nailhead and trans are there, the interior isn't completely roached, and there's no major rust (check the floors under the back seat and behind the back window especially), it's probably worth $4-5k to somebody, depending on options. That's sweet, buddy, keep me posted.....

If the engine and tranny are there, I'd be interested in the THM-400 Bill.

Im gonna play this by ear so far... The ONLY thing I know about these are that I looked at a '64(?) with 2x4s as a kid (about 1971) with a bad (probably) head gasket. It was neat. My brother had a '66(?) with a 60/40 bench seat and a tumbler speedo. That intrigued me too. Gold with black guts, and a hot girlfriend who's hip fit my elbow perfectly . Aside from the usual, are parts hat hard to find? As in a '67 GS? I saw this one at 50mph and turned around for the pic; that's all I know about it for now. We'll see how it plays out. Will this guy fit in my shop where the XGS goes? ws

CARS and OPGI have a lot of reproduction parts available for them, and they're pretty popular so you can USUALLY find what you're after. I've been able to find or make all the little missing things for mine, mostly used from eBay or members on here and refurbished them. They are a P.I.T.A. to do some things on: You remove the outside door skin to access anything in the door, pulling the door panel gets you almost nothing as far as access goes, the center consoles are a jigsaw puzzle, etc. They're electrically complex, and those '65 clamshells can be expensive to fix if they don't work. But, they're super cool, they drive great, and they'll always be worth something. They're not a whole lot bigger than your XGS, I'm betting. Mine is about a foot longer than my Mustang. It's parked where my Caddy was before, and I'd say it's 2 feet shorter and a foot narrower than that car.

I say go for it if it's decent and reasonable, but they're definitely not a cookie cutter car that you're going to just buy stuff and bolt together, though. I've seen your boat work, I think (know) you can handle it :D;)

Thanks for that vote of confidence Luke... I always figured if somebody else could make it, why couldn't I? barring any 500 ton stamping equipment etc.
