It will probably be some time but at least it's in the news. https://abc7ny.com/news/suffolk-county-working-to-create-legal-drag-strip/1742561/ https://riverheadlocal.com/2017/02/...explore-possible-locations-drag-strip-county/
Awesome! I think there is such a demand for it you'd probably need to wait 2 hours between passes, but I wouldn't mind that one bit.
Didn't notice the date, just ruined my day. I guess 2 years of study and talk, talk, talk but no action...typical politicians.
Shoot damn, my son told me about it, it's all over social media now here on long island so I googled it and found those links never looking at the date. Seems to pop up on face book every so often.
This! A dragstrip on LI is a pipe dream. It will never happen. I live by the airport. Do you know how many idiots move in under the landing path of 737's then start complaining about noise? Back when these tracks were built, there was nothing for miles. NY National was in the middle of no where back in 66. Now if you run a gas blower too long you'll get someone complaining to the town
Only 2 hours? That would be great here, and we have 4 drag strips within a couple hours driving time.
Plus don't forget all the "undesirables" and the bad element (according to the average LI resident) that the drag strip will attract.
Yeah, I guess I was being optimistic. E-town was a zoo every time I was there and it was an hour away on a good day. I was thinking if a L.I. Dragstrip was ever a reality, the demand would be unbelievable.
The problem on Lawn Guyland is the property taxes are very high hard to make money and pay the taxes when your open 6 months
